  1. I had a similar issue on one of our workstations here. I seem to remember that it took more than removing and re-adding. It was related I think to the user adding only that export option.... I will look into it and get back to you if I can find the notes on it. On the other hand what Ray says almost always works for this type of situation so do not wait to try it out. Ion

    Grid Bubble

This is similar to how we do it here, though we make a master grid layer that has the grids for the whole project. When we start layout of the individual sheets, we make the viewports with that layer visible and usually using copy paste, place and size them appropriate to the sheet using that master layer as a placement guide. Afterwards we simply turn off the master grid layer in the viewport leaving us just the ones in Annotations. It is a bit of a pain, but it gives us control over final output, and the PM's can quickly go in to the sheets and turn on the master grid to make sure there weren't any changes that didn't propagate, or missed layout. 3. I've always assumed it was an indicator to the user that they had deleted a resource that was in active use in the drawing. I always imagine the instance that you wanted to delete symbol A and accidentally delete symbol AA. At least with the locus point you know something was supposed to be there. ion
  4. Those who are having problems, could i ask a simple question? Assuming you said yes, apologies for my liberties here, this is the question: Are you zooming using the trackpad? If your answer is yes, then find a mouse with a scroll wheel and do the same action. If no, then I am afraid I can be of no help. If your case is like mine, the use of a mouse solves all of the aforementioned issues. I work most times with a external monitor and keyboard/mouse, so hadn't experienced the pain that shows up when using the trackpad with Vectorworks. I can tell you, I never go anywhere without a mouse when I need to draft away from the office. The issue has been bug submitted, so hopefully they can track it down.
  5. Which level of VW are you using. I have a feeling that the Batch capabilities are in the Design series products, (Architect, Landmark...) If you are using one of those, have you tried to switch to a default workspace? or are you using a custom workspace brought forward from an earlier version? ion
  6. Bill, Maybe I am missing something, but I've been a user since Minicad 6. To the best of my knowledge whenever a new release came out, support moved to that version and no new bug patches or updates were forthcoming for the previous version. I believe that the one exception I can think of was 12.5.3 that dealt with some Leopard (Mac OS 10.5) issues quite literally making the software unusable that was released after version 2008. Go to the General Downloads Page and look at dates, and you will notice that all the way back to version 8 there is a period of months if not more than a year from the last patch of one version to the first patch of the next. Right, wrong or indifferent, NNA is not changing its current practices as I see it.
  7. I believe what Andrew is saying, correct me if I am wrong, is that because NNA is only releasing new features every 12 months, only free bug fixes are released until the next paid release. Under the old system, there would be a version release, a couple of updates to fix bugs, then a .5 release 9 months later that would have additional new features that had the potential of introducing new bugs, necessitating a couple of updates over the next nine months, all while working on the next major upgrade. Reducing the available resources to chase bugs down.
  8. Make sure your Sills class is visible. followup in Floor plans make the door/window class is visible as well as the sills class. In a reflected ceiling plan turn off sills and turn on Ceiling-Main. HTH, ion
  9. Check the mode of your 2D selection tool. There are three modes, Don't Reshape, Reshape single object, resize multiple objects. I would hazard a guess you are on the first mode, with one object selected, or the second mode with more than one object selected. HTH,
  10. Chris, The selling points of the new method for me, was first, exactly that, specifying say 3" from jamb opening to closest framing corner without having to choose the relevant side or center of the wall and then mentally calculate the difference to the insertion point. Second, and while not used as much, still very cool, the reference point does not have to be in the wall. It could be geometry halfway across the building. Also the other cool tool that is related, is duplicate array of inserted objects. I just recently was able to grab a inserted wall and base cabinet and array multiple copies down the wall. all the copies stayed in the same stacking order, and were already inserted in the wall. very cool functionality.
  11. In short, you don't. Don't worry I share your frustration, but being on the other side I can speak of it calmly and from a state of ease. The odd thing about the new tool is that it works in reverse of the way I think, but once you flip that, you will most likely enjoy the new functionality. The trick for me was to think in reverse, clicking on the point I want to offset from, say a wall intersection, or furniture or any other geometry (does not need to be in the wall or even near the wall for that matter) then on the jamb part you want to align to, doesn't have to be the insertion point, then the distance that it is currently comes up, and type in what you want it to be and it will move the door or window to reflect the change. I was nearly as steeped (minicad 5/6 on) as you in the old style, and it was a rocky transition, but looking back now it was well worth the change. That said, I would like an option to click on the symbol and then what I want to move it in relation to. good luck, ion
  12. I think there is a vectorworks preference something like show constraints or parametric constraints that you can uncheck, and they will disappear.
  13. The structure is something like this: Procedure SearchObject; VAR {variable declarations} Function Selection(h :Handle):BOOLEAN; BEGIN {What you want done} END; BEGIN ForEachObjectInLayer(Selection,1,0,1); END; END; RUN(SearchObject); I simply snipped the code away from one of my tools that uses this functionality.
  14. Probably because you have your forum preferences to filter things out older than a couple months. direct link to article If you aren't trying to remove the points, you can also simply fit the objects to a rectangle extruded with a bottom height that you want the walls to be. HTH, ion

  16. Miguel, You beat me to it. Exactly what I was going to suggest. I guess I will follow up with the table for the different options for the tool Ion
  17. If by chance you are using a Black background, would you please try to change the background to to white and try again. It looks like the wolf library is not inverting its lines, and black on black is invisible. The 2D shows, because there is a white fill that looks like it defines the linework as negative space. 18. I guess I missed the irony label! ;-) No worries. Ion
  19. Yes even on a lowly mac one can click at the top of any column in list view and reverse the sort order. But on the Mac, there is view mode beyond icon or list, called column view, that is always in Descending order regardless of if you are sorting by name, date type size, whatever. In a way you can think of it as a Horizontal File Explorer view, that shows your items relative to the path. For the Mac users that didn't know that you can change a column views sort type, open the folder you want to sort differently in column view, and hit apple-j or go to the menu bar to view and select view options. there you can change what the column view sorts by. 20. I don't know of a way to performa carriage return, but if you format the cell, under the alignment tab you have the option to wrap text. It looks like it is there for at least versions 12.5.3 and VW 2008. HTH, ion
  21. we do the same without the dashes, but it still has the issue Sketcher was complaining about, the most recent is at the bottom of the list, when listed alpha/numerically.
  22. It is odd, I had found it about 2 or 3 weeks ago, added it to my workspace, played with it a while, and meant to get back to it, and forgot about it. Thanks for reminding me. Ion
  23. Sure, that makes sense. I suspected that is how you were using them. The easiest way to do these are as menu commands. In the resource browser enter the script palette, select one of your scripts and by right click or pop up select edit. select the entire script and choose copy. close the script editor, now under the Tools menu under scripts choose Vectorscript Editor. Click new, choose command and name it it should be selected in the list of plugins (if not select it) and click the script button and you will be back in the script editor, paste your script into that window and click ok. now you have a plug-in in the correct place, and you can go to your workspace editor and add it to your workspace and assign a key command.
