  1. I am working my way through some of the PIO's that our office uses regularly and presetting the Parameters (In Create Plug-In tool) to reflect the common changes people make, to hopefully be a bit more efficient. At the moment I am working with the Door and Window Suite (Simple door2 Overhead Door 2, Complex Window 2, etc...) I am also reordering the entry Boxes so that Configuration comes first, then width, Frame Depth, Use wall thickness etc (See attached image). I have been very successful with Simple Door 2 Door w/ Sidelights, Both Simple and Complex windows. However OH Door2, Sliding Door 2, French Door 2 are giving me fits! Even though I have preset the values, they are ignoring them using some hidden presets. I have quit, restarted to make sure there isn't a failure to update. If I go back into the parameters the values I have entered are there as I entered them. I have verified that I am not editing a duplicate, or any other possible misidentification. In the attached image there are 5 different Object info palettes, Starting from the left is the Simple Door 2 I configured successfully. The next two are French doors, the leftmost of these is the object inserted with the parameters set as the info box on the right indicates, this is the same for the sliding glass doors that comprise the right of the image. I have two other wish list items as well, Is it possible to add a Opening angle to Sliding Door 2, and a Use Wall thickness to OH Door 2? Thanks for your response Ion Webster
  2. I have solved this problem, but I am curious if other peole are seeing this problem, or maybe keep someone from experiencing this peroblem. Problem: When printing a drawing with worksheets on them, I get a border around my worksheet object and sometimes within my worksheet as well, when a "None" line style was chosen, and no border has been turned on within the Worksheet. 1 Internal lines ARE caused by having Gridlines checked in the Worksheet preferences. I know that is not supposed to mean print grid lines 2. If I UNCHECK Print Postscript Only, I no longer get unwanted lines. Ion Webster
  3. Hi Matthew, I should have put this in the original post, but I am noticing it More in OS X 10.1.3 than in OS 9.2.2 Maybe it is because in OS 9 VW has 500 megs allocated so it isn't having to allocate more as it goes...?
  4. I have noticed that as the day wears on VW gets slower and slower, If I quit and restart, it speeds back up. Any ideas? Thanks, Ion Webster
  5. Good Day, I updated to VW9.5.1 and started experiencing printing issues with Worksheets. I had this same problem with VW9.0.1. I would set the line weight to zero after placing the worksheet on the drawing. When I printed it to our HP 800 PS I would have a Outline border around all Worksheets on the drawing, there was not a consistent line weight either. There was not a border displayed on the screen, the way I wanted it. Back then the solution was to export to 8 and bring it back to 9. This problem disappeared through the beta 9.5 and 9.5.0. now it is back. I exported it and experienced a slew of other problems bringing the document back into 9. I ended up successfully exporting to 8, but never successfully getting the document back into 9. I either had missing items on the screen., or worse I would see it all on the screen, but half the items on the screen wouldn't print. I was able to successfully print the exported document out of V8. I was using both OS X.1.3 and OS 9.2.2 on the same machine, and experiencing the same issues. Thank you, Ion Webster
  6. Katie, We have some people experiencing this issue and some not (16 total). We have G4s that do have this intermittent crashes. and B&Ws that don't. I have noticed a repeatable bug that does cause a crash every time, and while not something that affects most people, makes me wonder if this problem is related to the focus change between VW8 and VW9. What I am talking about, is that in VW9 after editing in object info you have to bring focus back to your document. In VW8 and before that wasn't the case. The bug is recreatable by doing this. Open any document in VW 9.5.x blank or otherwise Resize your object ifo palette to almost as small as it will get, or as small for that matter. Draw something in the drawing, for me I drew lines. The object info pallette cannot display the info for the line, as there isn't enough space and will display the "jump" arrows at the top and/or bottom Start randomly clicking on those buttons, in OS 9.2.2 about four clicks will bring VW down, in OS X 10.1.3 it is a lot more, but you will notice the jump buttons don't behave properly, and after 15 20 it blows up. Now you see why I say most people won't run into this, but I'm hoping it might help point your programmers in the right direction. thanks, Ion Webster
  7. Good Day, I have a printing issue in VWA 9.5 that seems to be fixed by exporting the files out to V8 and then reopening into 9.5. See below for possible cause, but for now let me get to my real question. If I want to export a V9 file to V8 and then back into V9 to try and solve a problem, how do I deal with files that claim to have objects too large to be exported to V8? How do you find which object is the offending one? I believe our problem with printing was caused by our failure to reconvert our templates from V8 to 9.5. We had originally updated to V9.0 went back to V8 for a while until 9.0.1 was released. When we readopted VWA 9 .0.1 and eventually .5 we never re-imported our templates. So all the files we have created using these templates are exhibiting the same printing problem. Thanks, Ion Webster
  8. I have had an issue with the PIO Door with Sidelights on 5 different computers 3 operating systems and 3 different files. This happened on a one powerbook and on Powermacs ranging from a B&W G3 to a Dual G4 using OS's 9.1, 9.2.2 and OS 10.1.3. If I have a file that has a wall with a Door w/ sidelights inserted I am unable to copy and paste between files the wall that has that PIO in it. It also makes WorkGroup referencing screwy as well. Remove the Door w/sidelights and all is well in the world. We have a few workarounds, so it isn't critical, but curious if other people have seen this and/or if there is a solution. VW 9.5 Architect/RenderWorks Thanks, Ion Webster
  9. Hi Matthew, I was thinking as mundane a thing as cycling through the Alphabetical list found in the Class Modification Window. There Walls-Int comes after Walls-Ext-Frame and Window-main after that. Instead of the pop down where Wall comes before Window in the main list, and the types of windows and walls are deeper in the main category Wall or Window. I always thought that there weren't truly Sub categories, rather the hyphen was a key to VW to display then as such in the class pop downs in Obj info and in the Info Bar. My main use for this tool is to have method of checking objects for proper class association, for example choosing grey other classes, and then cycling through a layer and making sure that someone didn't draw something using the wrong class. Or more importantly in going through a civil drawing to set up a mapping. So for me anyway, I want it as a rapid way through all the classes, I don't care about the hierarchy. And like I said in my earlier post CMD-Left Arrow and CMD-Right Arrow would be perfect to cycle through an alphabetical list of Classes. thanks for your attention Ion Webster
  10. We have had this problem as well, I even brought a CD with a sample of this to MWSF and showed the guys up there. Like the first poster this is both in projects that have been updated to VW9 from 8.5.2, and files wholly created in 9/9.5 The Nemetschek guys in SF thought it was possibly a network thing. I don't recall if the first poster mentioned what system she was on, but we are an entirely Mac office, mostly OS 9 Clients on a Mac OS X 10.1.2 Server. I'd love to see a resolution to this
  11. Is there anyone who knows if this is possible? I use the Command- up-arrow or Down arrow to cycle the active layer, is there a way to do this for classes? One is, is it implimented already, if so what is the command, two is if notm is it possible for Nemetschek to assignthis functtionality to something like cmd-rgith and left arrows? thanks Ion Webster

    mac os X

I just got off the phone about a related issue and they are now saying an additional 2 weeks for the maintenance release and quite a bit longer for the Carbonized version. I got the feeling that we are looking at more than a month. Maybe the 6 was upside down? 90 days not 60? plus a little normal slip time in development? I don't envy their software engineers... Also along this thread, I have been using both 9 and 8.5 VWA with OS X. I find that it isn't as snappy, while running in classic, but definitely usable. I'd say that if all your apps are not carbonized stay in OS 9. You will save time in the end, with one exception.if you ar running VW in OS X Classic, and you are doing an operation like rendering that takes a while, you can call up a Carbon or Cocoa App like a web browser or AppleWorks and work away while VW grinds away in the background. I started doing my documentaion in Appleworks for that very reason. cheers
  13. Well I just got word it was about 2 weeks out from today the 6th of June. Cartbonization was even farther out for those of us playing in Mac OS X.
  14. I guess that is it. I thought I had done that before and had it only stick for the session I was working in, and thus didn't do it again. Can I blame it on VWA9 ? 8)
  15. On the Mac is there a way to globally change the font settings, I mean this beyond the documented deselect everything in your document change font settings to your default resume working, I mean if it is possible for VW to pick Geneva 12 point for every blank document, can I change it to pick Helvetica 10 point? If so how?
  16. I have set up 2 hp 500PS plotters, one in a single user space on an iMac(don't ask... 8)) and one for an office with 16 users. I had great luck and relatively fast plotting from the single user. In the office it would plot fast enough but only one user could plot at a time, if two people tried to plot at the same time it locked up the queue. After a month on the phone with HP and very detailed error logging they very nicely replaced at no charge our 500 with the 800 which has been beautiful. Well there are some color issues... 8) HP never could figure out what was the issue with our network, as it is plain jane 3com hubs no switches all macs etc. if you have the bucks go for the 800, it is a much sweeter machine, and not having to hassle with a separate rip server alone is worth it.
