  1. I understand. So in that instance, I might be tempted to draw one, extrude it, rotate it and make a symbol out of it. then use the duplicate array tool to create the circular pattern. see attachment.

  2. Hi Tiago,

Is roof 1 a shed roof, i.e. single pitch? if so go to a side view and use the rotate tool to rotate it to the correct pitch (make sure you are set to screen plane for this to work). Alternatively you can use the rotate 3d command to do the same thing., though it is abstract enough that I don't use it often.

Then as Wes said, go to your wall layer, select the walls you want to fit to the roof, and use the Fit walls to objects in the AEC menu.

If I were doing roof 2, I think I would model a hemispherical shell, then go to top/plan view and make an extrude of the eave line then use the boolean command to Intersect solids. The use the fit walls to objects again.

  3. to edit the site model text size directly, select the site model and set the text size directly through the Text Menu.

to make the change in the viewport you could select the viewport and in the Object Info Palette click on Advanced Properties and change the Text scaling to get an appropriate display. Be warned this applies to everything in the viewport so any properly sized text will be enlarged as well.

  4. I have one user (out of nine [they are all on macs & VW2010]) who this occasionally happens to. We all work off the server, but this one user will randomly report to me that their saves aren't saving. Fortunately I have all their VW installations set to save a backup copy at regular intervals, and thus far the backup copy has been good so no lost work.

This occurs while everyone else is working off the same setup with no issues. We've never been able to chase it down because it only happens every few months.

I know it doesn't help, but maybe to know you are not alone...

  5. If you have either architect or spotlight versions of VW, you can also use the Create Seating Layout Tool (AEC menu - Architect or Spotlight Menu) Simply draw shapes that are the seating layout and run the command. Select a symbol that represents your chair and choose Concentric in the Object Info Palette. Then you can adjust a handle for the focal point to adjust the layout to the desired.

  6. billtheia, it took me a little fiddling, but Deiter's directions do work.

what I did was to heal the wall breaks.

pull the wall ends back so none of the 4 walls touch. select the two horizontal walls and the upper vertical wall and use the align vertical with the bottom option selected.

use the wall join tool in L-join mode and click on the bottom vertical wall first and join it to the upper vertical wall.

change the tool to T-mode and then click on the right horizontal wall and join it to the upper vertical wall

click on the left horizontal wall and join it to the same

voila you should have something like the attached

  7. If you don't feel like waiting, you can right-click on the application(StoneCAD), and choose show package contents. in there you will find the raw vw files that house the hatches and textures.

I would give you clearer direction, but having done this so many years ago, I no longer have the application to go through the steps with.

  8. One way around this that I have done a couple times, is to use the Extract Face on the exterior faces (In the Design layers) I want to hatch/pattern/fill and make an Exterior Elevation-Material x, class and apply that to the generated faces. I can use the Attribute Mapping to adjust the origin to match my desires.

That way they are uniquely classed items so I can override the fills in all my viewports.

You obviously have to update them if the design changes, but if you do it at the same time you would have drawn it as detailed above, it is about the same amount of work.

  9. Ok, here is a rough approximation of what I think you are after

example 1, I used the extract edges to get the profile of the "teardrop" composed the 3 nurbs it created, then used the push pull to extend it into the vase. I duplicated the vase in place and intersected that with the shape I just created. Moved that intersection out 1/2" and then applied a fillet of .49" to get the rounded shape. (if you ungroup the fillet you can edit each solid to see the pieces I used.)

Example 2, you were essentially there, all I did (After deleting all but one) was use the push/pull tool to pull the base of the pyramid into the collar. Then rotated it to be straight up and down and aligned it with the center of the collar and the outside edge. Used the duplicate array to get 11 copies rotated 360/12 degrees.

  10. For example 1, look into applying a render works decal.

for your example 2, I have always done it slightly brute force. align my "halo" with the ground plane. draw my stud in front view then using front and top view align it with the face of my halo. Then using the Duplicate array tool in circular mode array them around said halo.
