I want to remove an old custom button on my basic pallet in the workspace editor... there must be some way to do this, I just cant figure it out... dragging off, right clicking, all do nothing to no avail... any help appreciated.

ahhh... as my wife would say... my superb observations skils as part of the male species did not see the "upper floor" checkbox somehow in the 2d graphics tab sitting right in front of me... sorry, I don't know how I missed it, I was looking all the setting over for a half hour before I posted... feel quite silly now.... long week I guess. thanks Vincent for pointing that out to me

Trying my hand at stair tool again with 2014. Curious as to how other people show their stairs with this at the upper most level... do you have a duplicate of the stair below to show it graphically on plan sheets? Looking at the workgroup BIM in practice model from VW, i don't know what the object is on the top interior floor that shows in the stair top/plan, but it disappears when you go to any 3d view. I guess I'm asking... this is what I'd like to achieve... just don't know how to get there.

I have mavericks with VW2014. I've noticed as well depending on the order I open the files up, the latest seams to take precedent no matter what window I click on to make active. The workaround is I have to minimize the last file opened, in oder to work in the other active window. If I don't minimize, I can click on the active window, navigation tabs change to that file fine, but as soon as I try to do anything or click anywhere on that window, it will default back to the last file opened if its not minimized...

I think I see what your saying now... so before you could override the line dash properties with one click @ attributes palette. ...now I have to change from class style, to line style, then the line type button shows, and I can click on that to select the dash style I want... more clicks to get the same thing, but I'm guessing there are other advantages I haven't realized for this change? thanks for the info!

Help... its monday and my brain's melted from candy. How do I over ride lines in the attribute pallet to change line type (i.e. dashed line) I've been on 2014 for a week or so now, and assume its just moved. The 2014 help file shows this is the case, and should be its own pull down / button now... however from the screen shot of whats actually on my screen this button is not there.... any help????

If you like very high DPI mice... i recommend logitech G500. Somewhat simple mouse, great feel, but you can crank the DPI to 5900 or something... which is crazy sensitive (I Love it)... plus you can add weight to it for a more solid feel and the chord is a nice weaved sheath (like a premium guitar amp chord if you know what I mean) that should last years. I have one in my office and thus far have turned 4 other people onto it in my office. My 2 cents.

nevermind... i found out they were trying to do text... not a number. on a side note can I get this to display any text. I tried to change the record item# from integer to text, but it does not work as expected...

I have a user here who is trying to use the detail bubble, but every time she changes the text and pops out of the text input box it does not stick. I'm at a loss... its just her, happens regardless of the file she's in, she's new, this has and does work for everyone else... any ideas on what I'm missing or how I can get this to work?

... that works... I thought I was hitting something on the left side of the keyboard though like and alt+ something... not sure what though... but those definitely work as well. thanks

My selection default method is rectangular selection mode... however everyonce in a while I hit something that quickly changes it to lasso or polygon selection... what am I hitting on my keyboard to get this shortcut... anyone know? I do this all the time... but i don't know what I do... I'd like to replicate this when I actually need it if anyone knows what I'm hitting.

I just tested it on 2011.sp5 (our current version) and it seams to update a referenced file that another computer/user has open on his machine... so perhaps you were able to do it, but can't on 2012...

thank you, I figured thats what it was doing, and i would love to disable that, but alas, I can not find any such setting... am I am blind, or was this a preference toggle added in a later versions (i am on vectorworks 2011) looked in other tabs of preferences but couldn't find anything with similar wording

that somewhat did the trick... i tried renaming, putting in a sub folder with no luck... I had to copy the file to a network drive, and physically delete the problem file on my desktop. thanks for the info

I have a file that keeps crashing VW... unfortunately i can not move on because my Mac keeps trying to auto open that corrupt file when I relaunch vectorworks. so how do I clear this last opened file list, or prevent VW from auto opening files it thinks it had open before the last crash... I'm dead in the water until I figure this out... I tried restarting the OS to no avail.

So i've made a mess of my workspaces by creating copies of them i don't want now... where do i go to delete them on the mac... I see the workspaces folder in applications/VW/Workspaces but the bogus ones are not there... it says it saves them in my user/library/application support/Vectorworks, but there is no Vectorworks folder in that path? any ideas how to delete these bogus workspaces?

totally new to macs... .in regards to VW and setting the user folder to the same network share as I do on windows machines... do workspaces setup on windows not work on mac versions of the vector works?... I see our templates and other stuff, but the workspaces will not even show as an option to change to? Do i need to create separate workspaces for this mac and any future versions i get?

ATI HD5770... used to have 2 in SLI, but one burnt out... just have a single card plugged into the machine now with two monitors tried numerous drivers... from dell site, from AMD site, with and without catalyst software.. right now I have the dell drivers downloaded without the catalyst software... all don't show the images, but they show if I hop on another station

Im have trouble with my workstation... specifically with image fills on 2d solids... some show... some don't... this is specific on my workstation because if I save the file and open on someone elses machine the troubled images display fine on their polygons... another wierd thing is the images that are not displaying... if I go to the resource browser and extract image, it does nothing... but if I go to another machine to do the same it will extract the image as expected fine. Is this a graphics card issue or something?. I have a decent card with the latest drivers... maybe its borked?

I think i figured out the problem... seem even though i only cared about the 2d display... i needed to put something in the hybrid 3d display of the symbol I was using for the 2D version to show up on my floor plan. hope this info helps someone else.

I am having problems with the custom door symbol geometry showing up on my plan... if I copy the wall and paste it on certain other layers it shows on my plan... but if I can not get it to show on the layer I need it to show on... any ideas? I don;t think its a class visibility issue if shows on some layers but not others... getting frustrated...

never mind... i found it... i did not realize it was the same ungroup as everything eles... duu.... thanks for the help guys.

Thanks guys... i knew about the extend faces with the blue grips... i was particularly interested in trying to extend and auto trim roofs crashing into another roof so i can see the valley lines in hidden line mode... how do I ungroup a roof... when i right click it don't see any option to do so...
