  1. The necessary field can get hidden at the bottom of the Info palette on the data tab (as SamIWas pointed out). Sometimes you need to slide the little slider up at the bottom to make it visible. HTH Andrew
  2. Thanks Jim Apologies - hadn't seen that thread. Thanks for going to such lengths to explain. Will take a look through and add thoughts to that thread. Best, Andrew
  3. Also - worth pointing out that Braceworks is an add on module for an extra cost? EDIT > Apologies - I see the new truss insertion tools ARE included. The analysis is an extra cost / separate module.
  4. Thanks Jim - Guess you're due a break, but can I ask a quick one? I've been saying it for a couple of years now, but I do think the VWX UI is overdue an update - I realise that there is a reluctance to this as you don't want to sacrifice familiarity for existing users - but I do think it's due. Was interested that the Promo video which plays whilst 2018 is installing shows a much cleaner, UI (which I know isn't OS specific - though you could argue it was shown on a Mac) Just wondering what your thoughts are on this - and whether it is a policy to keep with the existing UI for the time being. For me, even just a darker interface would be a start. Nothing like starting off with a biggie! Andrew
  5. Oh my word. I had no idea Braceworks was an add on. Thought it was included in Spotlight.
  6. Hello I can't be the first to ask this? Is VWX 2018 compatible with macOS High Sierra?
  7. It's worth the effort. A little cumbersome but very useful
  8. So - first impressions (after just 30 mins or so of fiddling!) Multi drawing views - massive. Work really well. Mac Touch Bar - lovely - will be really useful Interesting new Title block workflow. Haven't investigated, but boldly upgraded all my title blocks in a current (simple) drawing. But can't help but be disappointed that there still isn't an easy way to export a camera view (why not through publish command?) - and have to say the UI could really do with being updated now (the what's new video which plays whilst installing hinted at it in it's style). Just feels out of date compared to other apps (AutoCAD, C4D, Adobe CS etc). I've said that every year for the past 4 years now. But one small tiny thing I wished for (privately - never put it on the wishlist) was granted! When changing units, it drives me mad when VWX loses the show unit, thousand separator setting. That has been changed and with a whole load of other options to boot!. Late here now and long day tomorrow, so packing in now. Well done Jim and all at Nemetschek. Andrew
  9. I didn't see anything to say this was pre-release or a NDA....
  10. Oh no... does this mean no more Teaser Tuesdays?
  11. Which conference is that? Do you have any more info? I'd be interested too
  12. I'd paste, turn on all classes and do a quick select all and cmd-6 to see everything selected. Its certainly possible!
  13. Matt - that's brilliant. Exactly what I needed. Haven't seen those settings before! No more setting text styles based on whether they are on sheet layers (annotation) or design layers - and solved my line marker question! Thanks! Andrew
  14. Thanks Yes, most of my annotation is done in annotation space on a viewport on sheet layers (that's a mouth full) - just occasionally I need to draw an arrow / add text on a design layer. For me it just makes sense to keep all design layers at 1:1 I'll fiddle about with those settings. Thanks Andrew
  15. Thanks Markvl I've fiddled about with that, but the overall size seems to be limited
  16. Hi I know I should be putting annotations on the annotation layer of a sheet layer viewport - but sometimes I need them on a design layer. As I always have my design layers at 1:1 - I need to bump up the font size (usually to around 1200). Fair enough. But if I have a line with a marker / arrow, I can't get it to show. It's always too small. I usually end up drawing it manually. Any one got any good tips for adding markers to design layers? Thanks, Andrew
  17. Sometimes the small tweaks can make a massive difference. Especially if you're used to a work around. I used to manually add a second leader line to a call out. It was a few months until I saw a comment or a video showing how a second can be added automatically through the contextual menu
  18. I do a lot of truss drawing so am interested in this. Surprised I haven't seen it before (was announced in April I think). Looks very good
  19. A bonus tease! Just found this http://www.vectorworks.net/products/features/braceworks
  20. Just tried the Navigator out - only quickly as I need to dive into Excel and finish a budget So far - VERY pleased. As expected, only text, not icons on the display when using with Vectorworks - but that is no big deal for me. LOVE the extra physical buttons (Delete, space, Tab etc which I didn't have on my Spacemouse Wireless Pro) The 3 saved view keys though are great - They will be REALLY useful. Hold down one of View 1 to View 3 and you get the saved view dialogue box. Then pressing that same key briefly takes you to that saved view. Once a view is saved, holding it down a second or two again lets you redefine that view. I can see me using these A LOT - especially as it is so quick to set / redefine a view. Also so useful having left / right, top / bottom, Front / Back views under your thumb. (On my Spacemouse Pro I used them a lot, but you could only do 3 views - not 6 as I can now) Very pleased. Will add more when I have used it more. I also got the CAD mouse - jury still out on that, think I may be going back to my Apple Magic Mouse - but we will see.
  21. Can't help with the download I'm afraid but which element in particular are you struggling with? We may be able to help. The UI hasn't changed for several versions so it could be you're working in a different workspace? (You may know, but you can choose workspaces for architect, spotlight etc) could be an easy fix.
  22. Just received my Enterprise kit (with the regular mouse). Too busy to try it out but looking forward to giving it a go. If the view buttons work as advertised it will be a real boon
  23. Why? Did you not like it? I've got the enterprise kit arriving tomorrow.
