  1. Is VWX 18 likely to work with High sierra out of the box?
  2. Hi As per the title, I have adjust flipped text selected in document preferences, but text within a symbol (in the 3D portion) is not flipping. See screenshot attached from a generated PDF (Via the publish command) Any ideas? Andrew
  3. Would love references to automatically update every 15 mins or so (instead of just checking). Bit tedious updating them manually all the time
  4. How many sleeps to the next teaser Tuesday? Go on Jim. Spill a couple more beans today. Teaser Thursday?
  5. Pat's right. This often catches out new comers to Vectorworks. It certainly caught me out. Makes sense though once you're used to it.
  6. Thanks for doing these @JimW loving your work!!
  7. I'm more exhibitions / live events, but for me the iPad works a treat. I export PDFs into a folder then markup as necessary and make changes when I am back on my laptop. Funny how people like to take photos of the screen - I find that too - quick and easy I guess. I also find a 3D web view works wonders and really helps contractors (and clients) just"get it" straight away Hope this helps Andrew
  8. Hello all I like using referenced files as it splits files up into more manageable sizes on big projects. What I tend to do is have 1 x Master file which then has a Design Layer with an referenced viewport for each referenced file. The referenced files then only have design layers - so all my Sheet Views / annotations etc are in the Master file. Sounds simple and sensible enough, but I have realised it soon gets complicated. I often have another file with shared resources (text styles, symbols, render works styles etc) - and that's fine. But the tedious bit is : - going back to the master file to update annotations etc on the sheet layers - Sometimes having to have multiple design layers in the master file with the same referenced viewport, but with different class / layer visibilities - depending on what's needed Is this good practice? How do you all work with referenced files? Thanks Andrew
  9. Can't wait to use this! Has a release date been set for 2018 yet?
  10. Hello all Any good / quick tips for setting up line end markers in design layers? I know good practice is to keep all annotations on sheet layers - which I do do generally and makes sense, but every now and again I like to add note and lines with arrows / dots on a design layer. Get's a bit messy as you have to fiddle about with point size and marker size to get them big enough (my design layers are all 1:1) Any good tips or suggestions? Many thanks all Andrew
  11. Different thing I know but this looks good, using Apple Arkit
  12. Hi Alan I can't say I have any experience but I am very interested in this area as well. I have worked on several promotional events for HTV Vive and must say it's an excellent piece of hardware,. The closest I have come is using Google Cardboard with Web View / Sketchfab - which I find excellent - but Vive is a big step up from that. Please let us know how you get on. Best, Andrew
  13. Modelo looks nice, but have a feeling development has slowed. Doesn't work with VW 2017 on a Mac (PC only at the moment) Edit : I take that back! 10 minutes after registering, one of the Modelo team called me to see what I thought. Very impressive. He assured me that development is very much active. Reason there is no 2017 VW plug in for Mac, he explained was that Nemetschek are slow responding to their requests and it is quite difficult to support VWX. He also explained they only have a handful of VW users so it doesn't get high priority. You can export from VW as a .OBJ and import into Modelo though - will give that a try.
  14. This looks good too. Will give it a try. They can't spell Vectorworks though!
  15. Not in front of my Mac, but pretty sure hitting U does the job too
  16. Thanks again for the info Jim. Just did a basic test rendering out a single viewport from scratch, My 2016 MacBook Pro took 7 minutes, and cloud took 15. However, the status bar did say queued for a while - so assume that was whilst it was waiting for a machine. A shame it seems to be slower, but not dead in the water for me - I still had my machine to work on during those 15 minutes
  17. Haven't seen that myself yet. That's a shame. Does it render out that way?
  18. As mentioned in another post earlier today - I paid £300 for a day of intensive VW training. Best thing I ever did. Still learning today mind. Who said these forums are dead? I have had two or three questions answered / tips learned just this week. @JimWdoes an amazing job here
  19. I agree with everything here by my real eureka moment came after a days intensive one on one training. Best £300 I ever spent.
  20. Hey Jim - any way of knowing from looking at the logs my end how long a render takes?
  21. Thanks Jim - I guess it massively depends on how many people are using it at the same time...
  22. I've just rendered out 4 viewports on my MacBook Pro (2016) in a fraction of the time compared to Cloud Services. I began to suspect Cloud was taking too long earlier today, so thought I would give it a try. Will do some more scientific examples when I get a mo - but that's disappointing. I was wondering whether the file was locked (as I still had it open in VWX) - but I saved as first to be sure. @JimW- any chance you can let us know what the specs are of the machine(s) doing the rendering in the cloud? Maybe I was just unlucky.
