Tom, Are you from another planet? I've used MC and VW for years with great production. It's a moneymaker for me. Bugs are minimal for most of the last few releases. The upgrades are compelling. Increased productivity with each release has been obvious and measureable for me. Perhaps it's just one of those glass half empty issues for you. Comeon, upgrade from Powercadd. Henry

Am I the only one who received in the mail this expensive large calendar announcing VW 2008? Each month has a full page glossy color photo of a project done in VW from around the world. Why hasn't Katie annouced this on the web site? Did a few pieces of mail go out early by mistake? But, the website is there. Perhaps, this a PR method of getting blog buzz.

Katie, I just called tech support. He said the problem was that I had renamed the previous version "Vectorworks 12.5" and the newly updated one "Vectorworks 12.5.1". He said it wants only to be called "Vectorworks". He said rerun the updater after renaming "Vectorworks 12.5" to "Vectorworks" and then not changing the name of the newly updated version. This worked even though the get info dialogue box says it did not update, however the About Vectorworks under file in the program does say Vectoworks 12.5.1. Also the application file size is now: 259.6MB. I hope this helps others.

Katie, There are no: ?VW Resources.qtr?, ?VW Locale.qtr, or ?VW Help Resources.qtr? files in the VW 12.5 folder. Shouldn't these files have been installed by the updater? There are earlier versions in the 11.5 folder for 11.5. Henry

Katie, I repaired permissions but it did not correct the problem. To review, I installed 12.51 into the Vectorworks 12.5 folder. I moved VW 12.50 to a folder I named 'VW 12.5 outdated app' which is also in the Vectorworks 12.5 folder Henry

I also need to print 24" x 36" and 11" x 17" of the same sheets. (I keep the border of the 24"x36"s at 22" x 34" so 50% fits all on 11"x17"). The only way I see is a whole separate set of sheets with the different printer setup. That is, one set of sheets for 11"x17" and another set for 24"x36". Otherwise you have to reset the page and printer setup for each sheet to switch between printers. A pain.

After web upgrading from 12.5 to 12.5.1, then starting 12.5.1, I get a window with: One of the Vectorworks external resource files (?VW Resources.qtr?, ?VW Locale.qtr, or ?VW Help Resources.qtr?) cannot be opened, so the application cannot continue. What did I do wrong? Need this working by Monday morning.

Well, If we're talking about Nemetschek's other software, we can add Archicad, sincer Nemetschek is aquiring 54% of Graphisoft, the Hungarian developer of Archicad. How will this be integrated (or not) with AllPlan or Vectorworks. Archicad and Vectorworks seem to be direct competitors in my area.

I look forward to using worksheets WHEN I'm able to see them. No matter what zoom you are using, the worksheet edit window is the same tiny font size for viewing/editing. I've always wondered what all those little squiggly lines said. For that matter, we should be able to edit directly in the worksheet, not with an extra edit window.

just noticed this thread and remember a short 10" thick foundation wall guide line being offset incorrectly. Almost made a big mess but I caught it before it went out. The following times it happened I manually corrected the problem. I should have reported the bug but just continued working. Great that it is fixed.

Mark, You might need a bigger screen to decrease zooming. 20" absolute minimum. It speeds drawing by a giant factor. I also don't understand your description. The edit box gives text smaller than on the screen when I'm using it which requires zooming in. If you are reading notes and need to edit, it would already be the legible size if you could edit directly. However, a strength of Vectoworks is that there are many ways to do the same thing. But, I think a majority of users would prefer to edit the callout tool directly decreasing steps for most. The improved polyline tool where you can have an arrow on one end completely replaces the old pointer tool. A command with shortcut key assigned is much better than the old pointer. (For those who do not like the calllout tool).

Callout tool should allow editing of contents directly on drawing - NOT in edit box. The edit box is unneeded and slows making corrections. (I suspect the edit box was used because of ease of programming).

An obvious misunderstanding: The astragal is not a post in the middle. It is for exterior double doors in residential construction in US and is applied to the non active door and opens with that door. The inactive door has hardware that pins it to the floor and ceiling so it is rigid to receive the active door. It can be opened by unpinning it. The purpose of the astragal is to give a rabbet to receive the active door and be able to seal it (weatherstrip). It is a standard US detail.

Mac G5 1.8Ghz dual, OSX 10.4.6; VW12.0.1 I get random results when using the custom window for multiple windows. All non custom windows work OK. In open GL or RW, the multiple windows sometimes are opaque. You can't see through them and the muntins do not show. Glass is set for clear. I've tried class settings and turning off certain classes. The last test says it is a bug. I duplicated a custom double window which works correctly (is clear and shows muntins) . The duplicate is opaque. The only unusual thing I see is in the window preferences' data pane where the "Operable Sash Length = 37' 10". This is the value in the working and non working custom multiple windows. Henry

Just tried again with a new file created in VW12.0.1. The previous attempt was from my VW11 template. The same problem remains. Also glass door muntins do not show. I need to make a french door. I have the same muntin problem on my MAC G5 1.8 dual; sys 10.4.6; VW 12.01. Whenever muntins are added to the window the sash jump up in 3D and there are no muntins.

Mac OSX 10.4; VW11.5; 2 seats G5 1.8Ghz dual and G4 1.25Ghz dual Multiple accounts are on on computers. Fast user switching on. VW works on account from which VW was installed. On other accounts, the VW "get info" shows VW as a classic application and won't open. (VW is closed on other user accounts). This seems like a bug associated with VW. Other applications are OK including VW 11.0 and VW 11.01. Perhaps VW11.51 corrects this or VW12 which arrives next week. Henry Finch, Architect Newton MA

I found a link to Macroenter that sells the Encad T200 for MAC. I guess this can be called 'a solution'. I don't know anything about the company. I see that an ENCAD T200+ is a prize for the VW sketch competition. Can this printer be hooked up to a MAC or Mac network? Does it need to do postscript? Its 4 black cartridge option for very very fast monochrome printing and low ink costs sounds great! If it needs windows, could a very cheap windows machine be bought as a driver using the VW viewer?
