  1. Hi Peter Yes I Updated site model, and yes no elevations indicated. I think this may be a bug. If I send to surface my model texture becomes very distorted over the whole model surface. I am going to start from scratch. I'll let you know what happens.
  2. I'm having a challenge with a texture bed that I'm applying to a series of pads which represent a pathway. The texture bed appears on the surface,(highlighted) of the pads, but the asphalt rendering is up in the air (see attached). I have tried sending this to surface but it pulls everything up in the air. Any help is much appreciated.
  3. You might find some here: http://www.cadforum.cz/catalog_en/block.asp?blk=7551
  4. Thanks Peter. Yes I discovered this a while back. Thanks for your help.
  5. Thanks Peter... The file is a monster so that's out. I agree that the edge of the model in relation to the road may be causing this issue. I got a bit frustrated and started over using a sloped pad with texture. I worked well althought I have limited abilities to edit this. The station points on the road symbol are perfect. I will try again and let you know how it works. In the meantime I have this, see attached, which works for me. Thank you very much.
  6. I have done that before Peter, but I tried it again. You can see that the path becomes buried on one side then is still in the air. If I play with the stations (which I have) I end up with the original image. I am puzzled as to why VW will not create a pad for a road that runs along a slope. As you can see here even after updating the site model it has not effected either the model edge(which is road edge) or the landscape side of the path. I guess one alternative is to set the path a meter lower and increase the paving depth... but this still does not effect the site model contour lines.
  7. Here is what happens when the path is lowered... notice the shade in the lower right indicating empty space between the path and model surface
  8. Hi Peter To answer your questions: The site modifier is a Nurbs Road.It is placed on the edge of my site model and appears to touch the edge elevation. The land slopes away and thus the model (existing) surface drops beneath the road. I am trying to place a 12' wide multi use path on this undulating edge and thought a narrow road was the simplest way to achieve this. The grade along the path is between 8-9% (not consistent) so I thought a pad would be tricky. Grade limits are checked so slope at 3:1 Tried both... If I start to lower the elevation I loose path surface as it does not update the model as I would expect. Yes I do hit the update site model button after making adjustments.
  9. Hello once again. I seem to be having a challenge with my site model not adjusting/updating to the path/road which I have placed. The path is 12' wide, at the edge of the model and has site modifier box selected as you can see in one of the attached images. You can see that the path is well above the downside edge of the model. Any ideas as to how I can get the model to update to the edge of the pathway?
  10. Unfortunately this imported Sketchup symbol will not colour fill, it is wireframe???
  11. Thank you Jonathan... that's great.
  12. Hi I am trying to find some 3D bike images with a rider. I don't see this within the VW libraries, does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.
  13. Just discovered one crucial step. When placing the symbol into the drawing, in top view click and place, do not rotate or change the way the symbol wants to place itself within the drawing. I found if I place and rotate this symbol it will not lay flat on the surface, it wants to step up with the grade.
  14. Thank you Brian for helping me out with this. A long distance call (on your nickle) and a half hour on Skype did the trick. Attached is the exciting finished product. For anyone trying to do this in the future here is what was done: Rebuilt symbol (as Brian showed me on Skype) and ensured it was laying flat. Symbol was made by using a polygon and extruding. The previous symbol was a solid subtraction. Placed a Nurbs curve on the edge of my model (road edge)were I wanted the barriers to be and raised the elevation by half the height of the symbol. If you don't do this the symbol will duplicate along path using its mid point and it will sink the symbol into the surface. Imported symbol into drawing in top plan view. Selected both and DOP checking tangent. Works perfectly. I added 1" to the object spacing so you can see the individual segments. Wow... can't believe this is done. Thanks to all.
  15. I tried that a couple of times. This is what I got.
  16. I am placing a new symbol from the RB. No rotation...
  17. Good morning to you Brian. Thank you very much for all the time and effort you have put into this question. Yes it is a 3d symbol, I even took your symbol from your attached file and used it. See attached. I suppose the 8% grade makes this application a bit tougher. Not sure what adjustments I could make at this point.
  18. That's great Brian. I followed your advice but I still get a benched look. The grade I'm trying to place these barriers on is approx an 8% grade. I raise the Nurbs curve by half the height of the barrier as the insertion point of the curve into the barrier seems to be at the mid point. The challenge continues....
  19. I elevated the curve by half the symbol height. Got this which is close but not ideal. These symbols look benched instead of running with the grade
  20. Discover something odd... When placing the symbol it sits nicely on the surface. Once we duplicate along path the symbols insert themselves based on their mid point. Can anyone tell me what I obviously don't see? Attachments show the steps
  21. Here is the file with the added symbols bcd.
  22. Things are getting more confusing on this end. I imported my symbol into your posted files and I got this. Insertion point seems to be middle of symbol and they follow the curve but do not turn their orientation??? 30 years ago I was an apprentice horticulturalist....I feel like that once again.
  23. Thanks bcd. I made sure this was a 3d object not a hybrid when I was preforming the DAP. You explanation makes sense as the geometric center seems to hit the mark. I can see this is a great way to layout the barriers but I will still have to make adjustments to each one. Thanks
  24. I agree Jonathan it sounds like a good fix. If I make this a hybrid object and then a plant symbol I get this result. It wants to lay flat rather than on top of the model surface.
  25. Here is a side view, the brown line is the model surface.
