  1. I really, really, really want to be able to use my MBP at school. Unfortunately, they use AC. I don't want to use Boot Camp. VW is free and way better than AC. Will I be able to work effectively using the below process? 1. Do all design work on my MBP. 2. Export drawing to a DWG format, save to either an external HDD, flashdrive, or my student account. 3a. Open DWG file on AC in the labs (only place allowed to plot, regardless of OS or CAD software), and print it there. 3b. If professor wants the files, and he/she uses AC, I can do the same thing except send them the DWG file, correct? Does anyone see any major flaws in this plan? KU's network supports Macs, the SAUP doesn't care if you use OSX, Windows, or Linux. The only problem I can foresee is the AC issue (everything else works on both...Office, SketchUp, CS4.) I guess there's no way to get around the 3ds Max or Revit issues...you tell me. Thanks for any help.
  2. i guess i just dont understand vw humour yet...
  3. no, mbr modef has a 4gig option, but doesnt have a 6gig option, unless you custom it yourself. which i wont. maybe it is different in montreux? waitup, your signature shows you have a mbp w/4gig ram.
  4. you wanna hear a cad flow? ac is good to know, ona mac v-dubs the way to go sketchup pro, no way yo plan like an am you like this jam?
  5. How important is clock speed on the processor for running VW2009? Specifically, the difference between a 2.4ghz and a 2.5ghz Intel Core 2 Duo on a Macbook Pro? Also, is 4gb of RAM enough?
  6. There never has been. It started development on the Mac almost 25 years ago. I don't recall there ever being a native "command line" application for the Mac until OSX came around. Even that is rooted in Unix commands and not pervasively for applications. I've never known anything about VW until about 3 weeks ago...when I started looking for the best Mac CAD program out there. Also, I've never used Macs before now, so I don't know what you mean with "Unix commands" and a "native command line."
  7. Let me get this straight-no command line in VW!? and I always found 2d drawing in AC super easy, is it as simple to draw 2d in VW?
  8. I'm still in the application process, but my number one choice is Parsons New School for Design, in NYC. The list Vectorworks 2008 SP3 and SketchUp 6 in their Mac labs right now. Country? America (to anyone else in the world: I am truly sorry you had to suffer through 8 years of one of our worst mistakes ever).
  9. Hey All, Getting ready for college (architectural design undergraduate program)! My big question is this-since I got a Mac for school, I can't get AutoCAD which is all I have experience in. So, you see, I'm in a bit of a quandary. 1. How difficult is Vectorworks to learn? 2. Does NNA offer student license discounts? 3a. Is Vectorworks really the best cad software for Mac? 3b. What other choices do I have? Anything is appreciated! -k
