  1. The issue manager works great if you don't make a mistake or want to change the issued description. In order to change the description currently you have to edit each sheet border, painful on a large sheet project.

I would like to get a worksheet were you can list the specific issue # and change the description and date for all sheets at the same time. I'm not sure what the parameters would be if it is a database or not in a worksheet, any ideas?

Attached is the start, I have searched the forum but didn't come across the answer as yet.

    Cheers,

  2. Yes there is a work around to this problem. This is what we do for VW 2015 to Artlantis 5 for walls to export to the correct shader corresponding to the VW class you need to adjust the wall.

    1) Select the wall and go to edit wall style. In the Textures tab change from "Use object Textures" to "Use component Textures" .

    2) Back to the definition tab, make sure the components are classed accordingly.

    This should correct the issue.

    Cheers

  3. Satman68, see the attached VW file.

    To replicate do the following:

    1) Draw a line the height of the tree

    2) Select line go to "Model-3D Power Pack-Create Helix-Sprial..."

    3) Enter parameters this case it was turns (4), Start Radius (800) End Radius (100)

    4) draw profile of ribbon in 2D

    5) Select both and choose extrude along path

    Hope this is clear.

  4. Yup same issue here. Framing member quantity label rounds up. So I decided to spend some time in the help and check out the changes. The help is a lot better than before. wow. Found an answer tried it out seems to work. There should be some wa yto modify the text file within VW without having to exit.

So this is what help says:

    Quantity Label

Describes the standard material size required for the specified framing member, for use in quantity worksheets.

When there is no standard material size that accommodates a specified measurement, the label displays a ?. You can edit the Lumber Sizes.txt file (located in your Vectorworks folder/Plug-ins/VW_Arch/Data/Lumber Sizes.txt) to add material sizes that are available in your locale. Restart the Vectorworks software after editing the .txt file for the changes to take effect.

  5. I know this has been asked before but I can't find the correct threads, when rendering the (Un)Cased Opening there are lines visible, how do I get rid of them?

    ubbthreads.php?ubb=download&Number=10123&filename=Sk%E4rmavbild%202014-01-08%20kl.%2014.17.02.png

I have the same issue, for a few versions of VW's.

The only way I have found to be successful is to put them on a class and turn them off. (Door/Win-Opening)

For what ever reason the lines always show up on my renderings with the door configuration set to opening. To have the caps on in plan make sure you choose "Full break with Caps" on the door setting. Here is a image to explain better.

  6. Dimension trouble, this is the way VW's handles Chain dimensions and linear Dimensions. In version 2014 the info palette doesn't differentiate between the two, making it difficult to select one or the other with the wand tool.

Here is an image to help describe what is happening:

  7. Rolf,

John, can you please tell me what did you do exactly.

    Please help

    This is what I did:

    1) Draw objects on design layer.

    2) Then go, View - Create Section Viewport...

    3) Follow steps through the pop up info window. Create the section viewport on a new design layer.

    4) With the active layer, export the model to C4D. Note, the model will need to be exported in a 3D view, top plan will not have the texture for the caps exported.

A text vwx file is attached, as while as a C4D file, you have to replace the extension of .vwx to .c4d in the C4D file to work. (can't upload that type via the file manager.)

    Hope this helps.

  8. My thoughts

    1) Large projects will require multiple people working on them. Referencing files seem to be our only option to make this work,

but this complicates the process, and makes the many things like door schedules useless because the model gets split up. What is the best way to split up large models in Vectorworks while still getting good use of BIM features?

We usually don't break up the 3D geometry on our files. We use maybe 3 files or so depending on the job:

    1) geometry in one file all on design layers

    2) another with DLVP references, sheet layers of floor plans , elevations, sections, etc.

    3) another with DLVP references, sheet layers of Perspectives, vignettes.

If I where to break up the 3D geometry file, data file, into several, I would recommend 1 base file where all the symbols are kept, as well as all classes, and reference classes and symbols from this base file into the several files. I would then use a break down of varies files depending on how many sheets of what data, and who is working on the file.

    2) Sections. Sections don't have good line weights There is no difference between elevation vs section line weights, meaning adding 2D info to make the sections look good. Is there a good solution to cutting sections without drawing correct line weights?

I agree, elevations and sections need better line weight control. The answer to this one is unfortunately no good way.

The best method I have found is to use the thinest line weight for the section/elevation render, then create several classes on which to place the darker line weights and draw as an annotation overtop ie

    1) Elevation-LW 05

    2) Elevation-LW 10

    3) Elevation-LW 20

    etc.....

  9. I believe this is a bug, and will submit a bug report, however just wanted to see if any one has the same problem.

    Issue:

The lights do not turn off in a referenced file, when turning the class off, however the light disappears. (see wireframe vrs final quality rendering)

    How to Create:

All data is drawn in one file.

The data is then referenced via DLVP, into a new VW file, a SLVP is created and the data rendered.

    Files attached for your use.

If I am missing a setting please let me know.

in advanced, Thank-you for any feedback
