  1. Awesome work DomC, Did you create the Marionette node 'Duplicate Symbol Folder on an area' or is this a preloaded node?
  2. Yes it is drawn manually , its fairly quick because we select the wall with the windows in plan, change to a front view and convert to lines, it renders the 2D front version. We then dimension it up. We have also done it in the past were the windows are in plan and a VP is created on the sheet for hidden line renderings of the front view, all notes are then on the sheet in annotations. This works well if you think there are changes to the window design.

  4. I have found a hybrid system works well. But it really depends on your work flow. I have attached an example of how we do our schedule. The attached example was for a townhouse project, similar ones for apartments. The file titled "Window/Door Schedule v2015.zip.vwx" is a zip archive, just delete the .vwx from the end then unpack the file. The .vwx file is approx. 5.8mb. Don't know why, but you can't upload compressed files with the file manager, this was my work around.
  5. Depends on what level of detail you want. The cabinet tool does a decent job for blocking out the cabinets.
  6. I agree. Bryce - I use VP's for all renderings. I rarely use the render bitmap tool. You can then export the sheet to what format you want, and save the VP cache in the pref. so you don't have to re-render on reopening the file.

  8. OOO ahhhh shinny new toys, Looking forward to exploring new additions to the workflow:) Squirrel! - *and off I go
  9. The issue manager works great if you don't make a mistake or want to change the issued description. In order to change the description currently you have to edit each sheet border, painful on a large sheet project. I would like to get a worksheet were you can list the specific issue # and change the description and date for all sheets at the same time. I'm not sure what the parameters would be if it is a database or not in a worksheet, any ideas? Attached is the start, I have searched the forum but didn't come across the answer as yet. Cheers,
  10. Yes there is a work around to this problem. This is what we do for VW 2015 to Artlantis 5 for walls to export to the correct shader corresponding to the VW class you need to adjust the wall. 1) Select the wall and go to edit wall style. In the Textures tab change from "Use object Textures" to "Use component Textures" . 2) Back to the definition tab, make sure the components are classed accordingly. This should correct the issue. Cheers
  11. Sorry to old of a version for me, I thought you where using 2015. Best add a signature to your profile and posts. Maybe someone using 08 will be able to help. I exported the file to VW 08. Good luck.
  12. Satman68, see the attached VW file. To replicate do the following: 1) Draw a line the height of the tree 2) Select line go to "Model-3D Power Pack-Create Helix-Sprial..." 3) Enter parameters this case it was turns (4), Start Radius (800) End Radius (100) 4) draw profile of ribbon in 2D 5) Select both and choose extrude along path Hope this is clear.
  13. Yup same issue here. Framing member quantity label rounds up. So I decided to spend some time in the help and check out the changes. The help is a lot better than before. wow. Found an answer tried it out seems to work. There should be some wa yto modify the text file within VW without having to exit. So this is what help says: Quantity Label Describes the standard material size required for the specified framing member, for use in quantity worksheets. When there is no standard material size that accommodates a specified measurement, the label displays a ?. You can edit the Lumber Sizes.txt file (located in your Vectorworks folder/Plug-ins/VW_Arch/Data/Lumber Sizes.txt) to add material sizes that are available in your locale. Restart the Vectorworks software after editing the .txt file for the changes to take effect. http://app-help.nemetschek.net/2015/NNA/eng/VW2015_Guide/Structural/Creating_Framing_Members.htm
  14. Mitch, thank you for checking it out. I submitted it as a bug. Its good to know it wasn't all in my head:)
  15. Thank-you Bill, I have updated my signature. I Just made a test file in 2013 SP5, and the activate class works correct for me. I have attached a .vwx 2013 file.
  16. Phil, you could use a callout object instead of a text box. It has a pop up window when double clicked to edit the text in. See the image: [img:left]http://techboard.vectorworks.net/ubbthreads.php?ubb=download&Number=10136&filename=Callout%20vrs%20Text.jpg[/img]
  17. I have the same issue, for a few versions of VW's. The only way I have found to be successful is to put them on a class and turn them off. (Door/Win-Opening) For what ever reason the lines always show up on my renderings with the door configuration set to opening. To have the caps on in plan make sure you choose "Full break with Caps" on the door setting. Here is a image to explain better.
  18. Works normal here. The activate class option works with objects drawn in a viewport as an annotation, not objects that are on the Design layer with in the viewport. Maybe it is an issue with the older version, unsure, but in 2014 it works as expected.
  19. Dimension trouble, this is the way VW's handles Chain dimensions and linear Dimensions. In version 2014 the info palette doesn't differentiate between the two, making it difficult to select one or the other with the wand tool. Here is an image to help describe what is happening: [img:left]http://techboard.vectorworks.net/ubbthreads.php?ubb=download&Number=10132&filename=Dimension%20Issue.jpg[/img]
  20. Does anybody else get the same result? Thanks
  21. I agree as well, looking forward to having the texture bump revised.
  22. Not that Im aware of. You can edit the pattern in File - Document Settings - Patterns...
  23. See also this excellent reference on Best Practices for Workgroup BIM using Vectorworks. http://www.vectorworks.net/bim/project.php?id=9
  24. You could always make an image prop of the object for the scene render.
