  1. I belive he is reffering to #27240, where the walkthrough mode and OpenGL rendering would crash after a few minutes. Yes, this is fixed for version 10.
  2. C4D translation is still in the works on the other end. If you can hold on until tomorrow I can get a more offical estimate for availability.
  3. Donald, Since we had a number of different industry series products available for version 9, there are different costs to upgrade depending on what you already own. Your serial number (actually the first 5 digits) tells us what you have now. Otherwise we would just have to put up a straight spreadsheet with all the possible upgrade paths. Would you perfer this type of an approach?
  4. Giovanni, There are a lot of issues involved in those features. We definatly want to implement all of them, but we have to prioritize based on what we can deliver in a reasonable amount of time. Remember, the planning work that went into VW 10 all happened at the time of the 9.0 release. We know these features are important to our users but major changes take a signifigant amount of time.
  5. The solution for XP is a little different since the 1.2 driver does not work on it. For Windows XP, use the driver included by Microsoft. (This will be the diver with the green MS Certification logo in the list.)
  6. Eric, There is a problem with the version 2.0 drivers available from HP. You will need to uninstall the driver you have and install v1.2. See this thread for more info, http://www.nemetschek.net/cgi/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=12&t=002050 If you can't find the v1.2 driver online, send an email to tech@nemetschek.net and we can email it back to you. 7. Hmm, I guess NNA should get rid of me then. One less person to leak information about future products...
  8. Chris, Well if you want to start an user group in your area, your perfectly welcome to. The Mid-Atlantic User Group was started by a former employee Frank Brault who now does freelance work and consulting. A complete list of all the user groups we know about is at http://www.nemetschek.net/training/usergroups.html. For VWMAUG, NNA is only providing a meeting location in exchange for an occasional presentation from the marketing department. NNA has also created a e-mailing list for our use at lists.nemetschek.net, but I'm sure that Dan (dan@nemetschek.net, the head of marketing) would be willing to do the same for any other user group that wants one. Employees are welcome to stop by (both Katie and I do so) VectorWorker is still in it's infancy, I only registered the domain and set this up last week. In the long run I hope make it into a centeral point for any user group that wants to use it. At this point the only thing I don't plan on doing with it is selling other products. I think VectorDepot has this covered and would not want overlap it's buisness. Chris, if there is anything specific you want to see there, just send me (matt@giampapa.com) an email. The feature set of the site is still expanding rapidly. [ 09-18-2002: Message edited by: Matthew Giampapa ]
  9. Spare time? whats that? Our local users group needed a website, but I think it's grown abit out of hand so it turned into a community site. It's not sanctioned or endorsed by NNA, so anything on the site is "un-offical". If I actually had a job programming for NNA, then it would be a waste of time. As it is, I have to get approval any web projects I do on company time. VectorWorker is a free time project, but there will be a small addition to the tech support website in the next few weeks. Well the poll should "try" to prevent ballot stuffing, but there are a lot of ways to cheat. As a statistic, if your trying to do somthing important with the results your insane. Otherwise it can provide a nice little metric for NNA to judge what users want. In the long term I'm sure we will have a number of different polls. Hey, in future we may even have content, if you want just click on the "Get Published" link at the top and submit your own stories. [ 09-18-2002: Message edited by: Matthew Giampapa ]
  10. I think he took a 10.1.5 cd and baked in a pie tin. 10.1.5 + pi.
  11. Peter, It sounds like you have saved the sheet in a rendered view like hidden line. (somthing that will not be visualy apparent on a 2D drawing) Switch to the sheet that is having the problems, switch to wireframe mode and then re-save the sheet and delete the original sheet.
  12. I don't do the classifications. I just read them from the bug database. But for the record the system goes. Top 10, Regression, Very High, High, Medium, Low, and Future Version. So in the grand scheme of things it's not too bad. [ 09-12-2002: Message edited by: Matthew Giampapa ]
  13. If you are on a Mac, make sure your email client is not encoding the file as Mac Binary. This is the most common cause of problems transferring files. Try putting them within a .zip file, or changing the encoding options of your email client to Apple Double or MIME/64. Matthew GiampapaNNA Technical Support
  14. PeterT, This is a known bug (#28510). It's currently marked as a high priority bug, but I do not have a timeframe for when it will be fixed. To give you document focus again, use the window menu and select it's name from the list. No need to open and close the file. Matthew GiampapaNNA Technical Support
  15. If your printer will let you define a custom page size, just make the page wider than it is tall... 8.5 x 11 would be an 11 x 8.5 page. Then just use portrait mode. (which will look like landscape) Matthew GiampapaNNA Technical Support
  16. Mat, Also check your layer options. Go to organize -> Layer options, and make sure you are not on grey others. Matthew GiampapaNNA Technical Support
  17. Doug, The preference file in VectorWorks can cause all kinds of otherwise mysterious problems. Removing it will set your copy of VectorWorks back to the factory defaults and clear your serial number. It may help with this problem, and it certainly won't hurt. At the moment, I believe that some of our engineering staff have been able to duplicate the copy/paste crash, but not consistently. If you have not sent in the a file where you are seeing this problem. Please send a copy to bugsubmit@nemetschek.net and indicate what you did to get it to crash. I believe Paul was trying to clear up what the actual problems are and what is causing them, that is all. Matthew GiampapaNNA Technical Support
  18. Because those layers are marked as "Invisible". The layer options show setting only refers to visible or grayed layers. To make a layer visible, you will need to edit the sheet, (a permanent change) or just change it's setting in layer setup. (this is temporary and will be overwritten the next time you change to a new sheet) Matthew GiampapaNNA Technical Support
  19. The translation process between versions can solve problems because it will parse out some information if it appears invalid. Or it could be that 8.5 is not subject to the same display problem. You may see this again if you bring the file back into 9. (Of course you may not as well) If you currently have 9.0.1 or later, all of the updates can be downloaded from http://www.nemetschek.net/downloads/vectorworks/index.html. If you only have 9.0.0, you will need to call our customer service department at 1-888-646-4223, and have a new CD sent out. Matthew GiampapaNNA Technical Support
  20. There is a recurring problem with this on both the DJ 500 and the DJ 800. Since it looks like you have the 800ps, Try using the Windows 98 Postscript driver (v4.4 from the HP site, "pl421en.exe") instead of the HPGL/2 + RTL driver. Matthew GiampapaNNA Technical Support
  21. Kevin, Any item that is on a pallet can be assigned a single key shortcut. For instance, on most NNA workspaces, the z x c and v keys are shortcuts for Pan, 2D Select, Zoom In, and Zoom Out. There is a full list of keyboard shortcuts in the back of the manual. Look for appendix A. You can also change these shortcut keys by using the Workspace Editor. Instructions for this can be found in appendix B. Matthew GiampapaNNA Technical Support
  22. Mat, Do you have "Use Layer Colors" turned on? This can over ride color and fill information on a per layer basis. To check, go to your document preferences, and look on the display tab. Otherwise, I would make sure you have not pasted the walls down into a grayed layer or class. When wall objects are grayed, their fill becomes invisible. You can also see what happens when you move them between layers with the object info pallet instead of cut as paste. Matthew GiampapaNNA Technical Support
  23. nobass, Crashing when zoomed to a particular part of a file is a sign of a corrupt object or group. In general if you email the file to tech@nemetschek.net we can test the file and repair/remove the offending object. Shift - Arrow, will always move you 1 pixel at your current zoom level. Shift - Command - Arrow, will always move you one increment on the grid to scale. You can change your grid size by going to the page menu -> set grid. Matthew GiampapaNNA Technical Support
  24. The solution for this is to remove all fonts that begin with the same name from the font folder. Then add back the missing font, and then add back the rest of the font family. So in the case of Arial, you would remove all of the Arial fonts. Add Arial back to your font folder, then add the other Arial based fonts back in. Matthew GiampapaNNA Technical Support
