Every time I add or modify an existing "Space" it creates a new Class with that Space in it. What am I doing wrong? I want them all to be on the default Class that I have set up for Spaces. Thanks in advance, Greg

I guess this is my point. One of the great benefits of using 3d based CAD is that you shouldn't need to draw 2d except for details and notes, etc. Comparing it to other BIM programs, I know their default elevation setup displays line-weights based on depth, as I was trained to draw them by hand. If I need to go into each elevation and draw on top of the lines, that (IMHO) defeats the purpose of using a 3d program. Attached is a perfect example . . . exterior walls in plan view should have the thickest line-weight, but when viewed in an elevation, they should be thinner when there is less space behind them. See the dark lines on the main facade. The wall actually angles 45 degrees, and the line should be thin, but it is shown thick. I understand there are manual ways of overcoming this, but the ideal solution would be to have the default set to line-weight based on depth, and then you can adjust the line-weight as need from there.

As most of you probably know, when you draw an elevation by hand you make lines darker or lighter (thicker or thinner) based on the depth of space behind it. Thus, the outline of the building will be the darkest (thickest) and things that have very little space behind them (i.e. trim) will have the lightest (thinnest) lines. Is there a way to have the elevations in Vectorworks follow this same principle? Or are the line weights always based on the class properties? Thanks, Greg

I created a Finish Schedule . . . Yippee!! But then after creating the spaces using the space command and started to add the finishes, each space shows up twice in the finish schedule. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Greg

I believe the "Black and White" only applies to the lines, not the surface patterns. Thus, the lines are black, but the roof pattern is still whatever color/pattern you have chosen. Sometimes you can reprint from a PDF and that will convert the entire image to truly "gray-scale" which is what I think you want.

I have experienced the same problem. Changing the opacity on a polygon does not change the opacity of the hatch, just the surrounding line. The box on the left is drawn as a polygon, the one on the right as a rectangle. I am running Vectorworks2008. Ultimately, what I would like to do is have all of my hatches be at a 50% opacity while the surrounding line is at 100%. But, the line surrounding the hatch, and the hatch are controlled by the same properties, so they can not be controlled independently as far as I can see. And, I print in "black and white" so using gray for the hatches won't solve anything. The only way around this I have found has been to draw duplicate items, one with the hatch and no boundary, the other with the boundary and no hatch. A bit tedious.
