  1. if you use the keep instance in place it will convert it to a symbol, which you don't need to insert and delete the group, but it won't replace multiple instances of the group as there is no way of knowing like in the Landmark instance in the help that you pointed to.
  2. highlight the group you want to convert, use the modify>create symbol to turn it into a symbol. make sure you check the keep instance in place when you make the symbol. this will not make all groups that are the same into a symbol, but you can then take that symbol you created and manually replace the group instances.
  3. there is residential outdoor lighting in the Landscape lighitng, admittedly I made this years ago. it takes about a year to create the Vehicles, so it is not practical for us to make each year's model as the new model would be out by the time it reaches the library. but I will add your requests to the list of things for future updates.
  4. Class Mapping should be available in Spotlight, you can use it to map classes in an existing file to new classes, but it will not change classes if you add symbols with those classes in. as to your deleted class issue, you can re-import the symbol in and then refresh instruments should fix it for you easily.
  5. once you place it in a drawing, it will not disappear. and Service Select content from March 2019-March 2020 Will be released in the libraries for 2021. we have done similar for previous years, Service Select gets first access, then it is moved to the next year's content.
  6. do you use a custom workspace? if so and it has been transferred from a previous version, it may not have the latest tool in the workspace. you will want to either use the default workspace or delete and add in the new tool to your workspace.
  7. it is always best to import into a new file, and check the units are correct in the import dialog. unfortunately it is hit and miss with manufacturer files. for one file it may be great with a DWG and come in as solids, but then their next DWG file is all mesh. In the modify menu is the scale command, this can be a great friend when importing files, but if you accidentally have resize all checked, it can be a nightmare. that is why I suggest a new file for each new piece. once you have it the size it should be, you can import it to your working file. sorry to not be more help, this is what we in the content department do daily.
  8. will probably have to move it no matter which way you extrude it., but can try negative.
  9. if you use the bimobject tool, it will show you want you can import to VW, and will often import non native objects in as vw objects.
  10. you will need to create a rectangle, or whatever shape for the area you want to cut, extrude it, and then subtract from the counter. Sinks and other things like that do not have an automatic cut hole.
  11. Attached is my Graduate Thesis, I put it into VW many years after I graduated. all the parts of the set are symbols in both 2D and 3D. it also has the light plot as i did both sets and lights for this show. hoep it gives you a starting point. it is in an older format, but should port into your current version just fine. it shows the theater on multiple layers, and things in classes. if you have any questions you can PM me. 12. Users can not add or create fixtures for the fixture modes, this is a complicated process. you can request a Vision Mode here: https://www.vectorworks.net/en-US/vision Near the top right is fixture request. the database is shared between Vision and Vectorworks, but updates can only be pulled down from Vision, as the list can be added to more easily through there.
  13. if we were to do this, we would be updating the libraries quite often. we build the libraries with the idea that we will receive that data. most manufacturers are getting us the data, and quite a bit more was released with service pack 3. J. Thomas and Tomcat, are still refusing to give us the data, so those will probably never have the cross section data. if you open the library file, on the main page it lets you know if the data is available at the time of creation or not.
  14. in the past couple of years we have added many video projectors to the libraries. in 2020, they are mostly located in the obj-Ent Video folder, except for Barco, which I forgot to move out of the Lighting Instruments Library. We have Epson, Panasonic, Barco. some are still in the Service Select libraries. I suggest using the Search function to see if a particular projector is available.
  15. At this point I would recommend contacting your local tech support. they can go more in-depth with you on this.
