  1. What ppi are you using for Sheet Layers? Reducing this can significantly speed up rendering times. {AND A HAPPY 300 TO ME!)
  2. I don't see the same behaviour. Decals are rendering both in Fast & FQ Renderworks with and without Unified View. It could be a memory issue. Perhaps copy the object and paste into a new file to test whether you can duplicate the issue there. hth
  3. Hi Cookie, I'd try the following. New drawing Import the symbol. Turn on all classes Edit Symbol 2d - Select all Zoom to selection - Cut Exit Edit. Edit Symbol 3d Select all Zoom to selection - Group (you are in Top/Plan View) Move the group so that your preferred insertion point is at (0,0,0) Delete any loci Exit Edit Edit Symbol 2d Paste - Group and Move as above. Exit Rename - Import to your original file and give it a go.
  4. If I'm understanding you correctly: Draw your object in 3d - placing a 3d locus at the insertion point Copy Create Symbol - Name it according to its view. Paste Modify>Rotate>Rotate 3d 90? about your selected axis using insertion point as center of rotation as above & repeat Draw & select 2d geometry to create a hybrid symbol for the Top/Plan View
  5. On the dropdown issue, usually pressing a letter key on the keyboard jumps you to the first entry with that initial. If you're fast enough the first two letters will take you to those items beginning with those letters. etc. I don't know what controls the stroke time - the deepest I've gotten is 4 letters in.
  6. Allowing the use of Corner Windows for the creation of Bay and Box windows.
  7. Have you a look in mind? There's a great hatch tutorial I once saw from a fellow in Belgium/NL. Makes the process very easy - fun even. I'll see if I can hunt it down.

    bay window ?

In 2010 why not draw your walls on the bay-line and create corner windows to form your bay window.
  9. Hey Peter, this is fantastic. I didn't know this! Great feature & timesaver. Almost makes the edit roof mode redundant if the 2d can be edited directly on the object. It seems there's also a very useful application where it comes to walls where it invokes wrapping and wall recesses / breaks and projections. Wow! What other treasures lie within? This deserves a study session of it's own. Thanks Peter.
  10. Has anyone else tried to Fix the leak? I made a submission to http://www.deepwaterhorizonresponse.com/go/doc/2931/546759/ of course they review all submissions and a couple of weeks later received word that it "cannot be applied under the very challenging and specific operating conditions we face" I'm sure many others here have even better ideas - Could one of the bright minds here in VW-land have the solution?
  11. Excellent question I'd say. I usually draw lines / loci in Top/plan view representing the relevant plane breaks etc.that I need. Then: Cut Edit roof surface Paste in place. (delete when finished with them) Unlike Symbols the roof edit mode respects the global coordinates so Paste in place will work. A more detailled workaround would be select all roofs Modify>Convert Copy to Lines Copy Edit Roof face - Paste in place. (this could also be done with a symbol and and insertion point set at 0,0) Of course - back to your question - having the other roofs visible and snaptoable while in Edit mode would make these workarounds obselete.

    Glass?!?!?!

Have you tried Glass Clear? Try your texture in your scene with a simple extrude.
  13. A couple of ideas to try: Is View>Class Options>View Snap Modify Others enabled? 2d objects have the flexibility of residing on either the Active Layer Plane or the Screen Plane. 3d objects however live in 3d space often with a Bottom Z value defining their elevation above zero. Are your Design Layers at the same scale? Have you enabled Stack Layers? Jerkiness sounds like your computer is working too hard -if the above doesn't help try reducing the quality via the View>Rendering>Open GL Options settings to see if this helps (& or disconnecting your 2nd screen as an experiment - or try after restarting VW)
  14. I like the matrix idea a lot.
  15. Good suggestion - a linear dimension is defined by two points - a radial dimension could similarly be defined by three. There is the option to Modify>Covert line to dimension but this only provides the angle between two radii, rather than your required arc-lenght. The best I can identify today is placing your arcs in a hidden class. At least this way they do not clutter your drawing, It can be turned off and the dimension will remain visible. Perhaps there are more elegant solutions.

    Counter Tops

Have you tried it with all the classes turned on?
  17. No, it can't be done without 3d information in the scene to cast the shadows. And a 3d surface for the shadows to land on. If you draw your 2d plan as simple rectangles or polygons and extrude to the mean height you will have a fast approximation of your 3d model quite quickly. For your ground you could just draw a large shape and extrude by an arbitrary value - eg 1mm. This will get you started.
  18. Thanks Mike - clears it up for me.
  19. Rather than reshaping a normal wall - which can be very tedious - you can just use the AEC>Fit Walls to Roof command
  20. That should work, Is this pref. also available in 12.5 - I couldn't find it.
  21. Sounds like a bug to me - the counter should be independent of the model making layer viewing angle irrelevant.
  22. Have you contacted tech support? I believe it has to do with a mismatch between the color spaces in VW & Acrobat and that it's possible to correct it by adding a Color Conversion in Acrobat>Advanced>Print Production>Convert Colors.
