  1. Thank you very much for you help your idea fixes the issue!! This will say me time and aggrevation!! I also wonder what happened to cause the issue. Thank you!!
  2. Again, thank you for the help! I have attached the two PDF files that I have been working with. And like I said they seem to import fine into a new document, but import gray in an existing file that I have been working on for some time. Thanks!
  3. I have attached the file that I have been working in. I cleared out all other information to get the file size down and just have two PDF examples. It seems to only be happening in a file that I have been working in for months. I created a new file and imported the PDFs and they came in fine. Weird... Thanks for your help!
  4. Any PDF that I import. It can be an image or text. They all come in gray.
  5. When I import a .pdf file into my vectorworks file it comes in with everything grayed out. This did not happen before I updated to SP5. Any ideas?? I can import the file as a .jpg image and it will come in normal, but the quality is no where near as good. Any help would be wonderful! Thanks, Nicole
  6. I have been using VW 2009 for over a year now. This is something that has changed since I updated to the most recent SP5 version. I am sure that I am just missing something that needs to be turned on/off but it is different than before and I still do not understand why. Previous to this update (SP5) when you made a new window and inserted it in a wall you could simply revise your window size, shape, etc. without turning on the sills. Then it would show with "wall caps" on each side and a "sill" that was on even when the "ceiling main" class was off. I have figured out how to get the wall caps to turn back on I found the button for that but I still do not understand what happened to the sill lines that used to just automatically show up. Maybe I now need to go through and turn this on individually but this is still different than before and therefore takes more time than it used to. I also do not understand why when I "edit" my window symbol it changes the image of the window by taking away the wall caps. Wall caps are not an option that I found within the symbol edit window. I can turn them back on when I am outside the edit window but not within edit. This meant that I had to highlight each window and turn the wall caps on. This is tedious and it is changing the item without my telling it to be changed. I'm not as desperate for information now as I am not on a deadline, but I am still wonder why I am having these issues. It makes me wish I had not updated to SP5. Thanks.
  7. OK, so the sills/I guess header have something to do with being on the "Ceiling-Main" class. I turned that off to not see the door header and all of my window sills that I did not have specifically gone in and turn on then disappeared. You didn't have to make a sill in the previous version. Why do you have to here. And this still doesn't explain the wall caps disappearing when you modify anything. I mean anything. You open the edit window and then close it and the wall caps are gone. Help.
  8. I posted this the the general discussion and didn't get any help. I am wondering if anyone here can. I am so aggravated and don't have time for this problem. I am wasting so much time... I just updated my VW 2009 software to SP5 and now the windows seem to having issues. I customize a window to the specifications I need, I make it into a symbol and if I try to edit any part of it I loose the wall break lines on the sides of the window. What is going on? That is what I posted last week. I am now working in the windows again and I am not getting the normal "wall break" side and border lines. It is just putting the window in without the sides and sill lines. I had to go in and specifically turn the sill on and figure the numbers to be exactly the wall depth. You didn't have to do this before. I would appreciate any help out there. Very frustrated.

  10. It looks like my monitor is a Dell 2007WFPb (from the sticker on the back)
  11. Thank you for the feed back. I will talk to our IT guy about running the Apple Hardware Diagnostics and updating the video drivers. I don't know what they all did while they were trying to figure out the issue. The monitor is a Dell wide screen. I don't know what model number it is or where to find that info. Between all of your comments and the conversations that I have had with VW technical support it seems to possibly related to the wide screen aspect of my monitor, maybe... Everyone else seem to be able to use the highest and best resolution. Very frustrating on this end... Thanks again for any and all ideas and info. Nicole
  12. We have tried it all. -I can recreate the problem with and new blank document that I draw two rectangles in. If I zoom in a lot on the line or corner the entire system locks up for a few seconds and then crashes. -I have tried at least 3-4 different files it crashes them all. -The files were originally from VW2008, I opened the file and saved it with the new name as VW2009 asks you to do. I have then copied all of the information over off this file and into a new/blank file. I have now done this for (3) projects. (That is a lot of lost time...) -I ran the permissions (Disk Utility) on Wednesday and everything came back fine. -I have the problem narrowed down to being when I zoom in by scrolling with my mouse wheel into a polyline either on the line or corner. It has to be a polyline. On Monday, my resolution was changed to be higher. I think that I was working at 1280 x 800 before the change. -I am on 10.4.11 version of Mac, there is another machine in the office that is running 10.4.9 and I cannot recreate the issue on his machine his resolution is 1152 x 870. -Tech support at Vectorworks had me reboot my computer in "safe boot" and run vectorworks that way and it did not crash. -Our tech guy figured out that the error message was pointing to the video card and reset my resolution and since then it seems to be working fine. I am at a major loss, and I have lost almost an entire weeks work time trying to figure out whatever this problem is. Please help if you have any new ideas. Nicole
  13. Vectorworks recommends that your screen resolution be 1024 x 768. With this resolution on my machine and monitor the font/icon size is huge and everything has a slight blur to it. Also, squares and circles do not appear as their true shape due to the fact that I have a wide screen monitor. BUT if you set your resolution higher VW's is crashing my entire system. I am able to set the resolution up to 1680 x 1050 (this is 8 steps higher than the 1024 x 768). This resolution change was done earlier this week. I found that my entire operating system was crashing when I would zoom into a polyline, on the line or corner. After much digging and trying to figure out why this would possibly be happening our tech guy finally realized that it was the screen resolution that was crashing the computer. My wish would be that Vectorworks would run on a screen resolution that lets objects appear their actual shape and you not have to have a huge font/icons. If there is a way around this please, please let me know. Nicole
  14. Does anyone know why when you resize items created with the Linear Material tool they flip?? If you double click the item and resize it by the end point handle about half of the time the item flips or mirrors itself and you have to mirror it back. Very frustrating!! Any ideas on what I am doing wrong or how to get around this problem? Thanks, Nicole
  15. I did start the file in 2008. Moving it to 2009 seems to have corrupted my entire file. The tech department at Nemetschek is currently looking at the file. I cannot get the dimension lines to work correctly. This is not a good thing considering that I have many weeks worth of time and information in that file and when I export it back to 2008 it now has issues and of course I didn't save a copy of the 2008 file before I opened/saved it in 2009. Guess I will not do that again... I will see what happens with changing the class. Thanks for the input.
