  1. Unless I'm misunderstanding something, the first option provided is basically what I did. I drew a 2x8 in a side-view, rotated it to be flush/coincident and extruded it. My problem is that the extrude seems to be placed correctly (in side-view, and 3d-view), but in top-plan-view the rafters seem to only be drawn to the bottom edge of the square eave cut, leaving a gap.
  2. I'm using VW2008 and have a simple shed roof with framing-rafters: 2x10 cross-section 20-deg pitch 12' span 5.5" bearing inset 3' overhang square eave To make a fascia board I draw a 2x8, extrude it and rotate it 20-degs to fit the fascia in 3D. From the side it looks flush, but when I switch to Top/Plan view it isn't touching the rafter-tails anymore, and moving it to do so screws it up in side-view. Am I missing something? Thanks, you have all been very helpful Aaron
  3. I've been looking for this one for a while and can't seem to find anything in the right direction, so I figured its time to suck it up and ask you experts. I place doors and windows when initially designing something, and don't know the specific settings I'll need for the final design. Is there a way to easily transfer/update door and window settings (like width, jamb thickness, mullion spacing, etc) from one instance to another without needing to edit each individually? What I'd like is an eyedropper-type tool that allows you to pick up the settings from one, and apply them to another. Or is there a way to reference everything from one initial version of an object, which can then be adjusted to change everything? I don't really want to create totally new symbols just to accomplish this, it seems a bit excessive. Thanks, Aaron
  4. Thanks for the tips. I think I tried retracing the problem-contours before, though I'm not sure. They aren't critical, so I'll try again when I have some spare time. Adjusting the document decimal-precision fixed my 450'11.999" problem. Thanks!
  5. I am having 2 problems when trying to create a Site Model. Admidetly, I'm still learning and hope there is something simple I'm missing, but I can't find anything relevant online and figured it was time I asked. I converted DWG site topo lines into Polys, then Composed them each into a single 3D-Poly, then set each one's elevation manually. I then create a site-model from them and cannot resolve the following 1) The actual elevation numbers that get put on the Site Model are a decimal or two off from what they should be (350' becomes 349'11.998") They vary in how wrong they are. 2) There are 2 topo/contours that "cut a corner" and don't follow the original 3D-Poly, instead cutting a few curves out of the final product and just drawing a straight line to connect the points. I've redrawn these topo lines many times, checking from breaks in the continuity, which I assume is what is causing these, but I cannot get them to be fixed no matter what I do. Maybe there is something else I'm missing, or an easier way to get rid of the breaks? Any ideas? Thanks Aaron
