I am experiencing a problem rendering windows with "segmental" tops in version 10.5. The program crashes during generation of geometry. Windows with "round tops" render fine, windows with "flat tops" render fine. The same file renders fine in version 10.1.2, but when I try to render the exact same file in 10.5, VectorWorks crashes. (mac OS 10.2.6) I have spent two days diagnosing the problem, I have missed a deadline, and, thus lost an opportunity for a timely payment. I have reverted back to version 10.1.2 which seems to be working perfectly.

The problem does not occur with new files, or new files created with VW10 templates, however, the problem does occur with a new file created with one of my own templates. This suggests a problem with my template file (and all files created from that template), but the template file works in OS9.2 I am using an Xante 8200 for the default printer (postscript tabloid size).

I have recently discovered a printing problem in OS 10.2.6 which does not occur in OS 9.2.2. When I attempt to perform a "page set-up" or "print" a Vectorworks ver. 10 file in OS 10.2.6, Vectorworks quits unexpectedly. The very same file prints and behaves perfectly in OS 9.2.2 using VectorWorks 10.1.2. While in OS 10.2.6, I can "export" the file as a VectorWorks ver. 9 file, quit VectorWorks, reopen the file, perform a "page set-up" and then save it again as a version 10 file and all seems to work fine. Unfortunately, this proceedure might involve several hundred files and I risk losing some of the features of version 10 files in the conversion. Is there another solution? ... or is my problem an isolated event? I switch back and forth between OS9 and OS10, but I do not recall having this problem in earlier versions of OS10.

As a reply to my own post, I have exported my topography file (no DTM, just the polygons) to 8.52. For some reason, the DTM function worked this time whereas it would not work before. This same file will not work in VWA 9.01. When I open the VW 8.52 file in VWA 9.0.1, there is an automatic translation process to convert the file to the new version, and it works. In other words, as many have posted, VWA 9.0.1 has some problems. Personally, I am working in both versions. When something does not work in 9.0.1, I try it in 8.52. This is a pain in the a__, but what ever. Meanwhile I have spent over $500 in (non) billable time to isolate this problem. [This message has been edited by compusam (edited 09-22-2001).]

Has anyone had success with DTM? I have tried with VW 8.0, VW 8.5.2, VWA 9.01... and I have yet to produce a complete file. I have tried eliminating contours to isolate problems and I have had limited success, but I have yet to create a complete DTM of any site. Most recently, I have detected one topo line which seems to be stopping the DTM from being created, but I cannot determine why this one line is causing a problem. I am using a G4 Mac with 386mb RAM OS 9.1.
