  1. Ok, I was doing it right, just wasn't what I was looking for. I am trying to get it to look like the plan view of this document that I have attached.
  2. I can't seem to open the file with the extension .vwx. I know that it is a Vectorworks file, but my VW is not recognizing it for some reason. I tried changing it to .mcd, but that still didn't work. Any thought. I appreciate all your help on this
  3. Having trouble with the whole rotate thing. Can you help with with rotating so I can see the top view? Thank you.
  4. Hi there. Does anyone have or know how to create a symbol for 20.5"x20.5"x10' self climbing truss, top view? I figured out how to make the side view, but I need the top view, and the symbol for the self climbing rig that goes in the corners where corner blocks normally go. Thanks!
  5. Thanks Matt, I thought about placing in the spotlight forum first but wasn't sure. Will try the rotate in 3d thing if I can figure out how to do that. Thanks!
  6. Hi there. Does anyone have or know how to create a symbol for 20.5"x20.5"x10' self climbing truss, top view? I figured out how to make the side view, but I need the top view, and the symbol for the self climbing rig that goes in the corners where corner blocks normally go. Thanks!
  7. I do have 12.5.3. Sorry, need to update my signature.
  8. I am finding that my text is shifting to the left and some of my lines aren't printing when I print to PDF. Anyone know why this might be? And I know the lines aren't a lineweight issue because it will print half a rectangle and not the other half. Thanks!
  9. I eventually got it figured out. Thanks for your help guys!
  10. I'm not sure why it didn't work. Maybe I didn't get the right thing. I tried to find it at NNM website but couldn't so I found another VW help site that listed the drivers but it was a little hard to decipher, so maybe it wasn't the right one or maybe I only got part of it. I know I am missing something here, I just can't figure it out. Thanks for your help with this.
  11. Ok I tried that. Installed it as "run as administrator" but after installation when I right click on vectorworks.exe (I don't have 2009) to run as administrator, it wont let me check the little box. Can you even install 12.0.1 on Vista? Could there be something wrong with my dongle?
  12. There don't appear to be any more dongles on the cd. I also have tried downloading the driver from the internet but that didn't work either. I am brand new to Vista and I don't know if there is some issue with Vista that I don't know about, or maybe I am installing the disk wrong (not sure how though. )It just seems weird that it wouldn't automatically install the driver.
  13. So I found the dongle drivers but it says I must run the master installer to install it, but I have tried installing VW about 3 times now and each time it does not appear to be installing the drivers. Any thoughts?
  14. That's probably it. I will try and find the drivers. Thank you very much.
  15. Old computer died so had to reinstall VW on new computer. It is now saying that it can't find my dongle even though it is plugged in. I am pretty sure I installed everything correctly. Could it be a Vista issue? Thanks!
  16. It comes up blank, just like when I try to print it. I am wondering if it might actually have something to do with my memory. I tried using another program, PDF 995 to write to PDF and I get and error saying that the "memory could not be read", Also if I go into Adobe and try to create the PDF that way, it says that it could not open the file becuase it is either "not a supported file type" or "because the file has been damaged"
  17. Using Adobe Acrobat to print. Tried exporting but that does not work either. It just seems strange that I can print to PDF from any other VW file, just not this one.
  18. Also, the file size is 5.13 KB. And I didn't mean I couldn't copy, it let me copy, I meant that if I copied what I had drafted from the file and placed it in another new file, it still wouldn't let me print. But if I go to other VW drawings, even ones that are larger, it will let me print those, so I am thinking there is an issue with the drawing, I just don't know where.
  19. When I say print, I mean I go to File and click on Print. Then select PDF. I went into the print properties and changed the dpi to 72, that still did nothing. I can't imagine that would be the problem since I have always been able to print to PDF before, but now all of a sudden I cannot. I can't figure it out at all. Oh and yeah, I know I need to upgrade, just waiting for the cash to do it
  20. I created a file VW 12.5, and now I cannot print to PDF. I can print other VW files I have to PDF, but not this particular one. It let me print this file to PDF once, but hasn't let me since. Could I have done something to corrupt the file? Can it be fixed? Would hate to have to redraft everything. I even tried copying to another file but still wouldn't let me. Is there anyone I can send my file to and have them look at it to see what the issue is? Any thoughts? Thanks!!!
  21. I am currently having the same issue, but not with rendering, just regular printing. I create a viewport and then go to print to PDF and it just come out blank. It let me do it once about an hour ago, but then it just stopped. Could the file be corrupted?
  22. Thanks for the help! Much appreciated.
  23. Thanks Ray. I tried scaling it by editing the symbol itself, and it worked for one symbol, but I can't get it to work for any others, which I find odd. I am going to EDIT SYMBOL, then MODIFY, then SCALE OBJECTS. Any thoughts on what I may be doing wrong? Or why it only worked once? Also, what does OIP stand for? Thank you!
  24. Is there a way to scale a symbol? I have a not-to-scale drawing and I want all of my lights to appear bigger than they are. Is there a way to do this once they are placed in the drawing? Thanks!
