  1. Have you checked that the survey isn't a symbol?
  2. Thanks for your prompt assistance Katie! We rarely get technical support this quickly in the UK so it was a refreshing change! Think I'll leave the upgrade until tomorrow morning though just in case! Thankyou once again... Stuart Gray FAW Architects Northampton, England
  3. Katie, Many thanks for the quick reply. We did get a new Serial Number via our re-seller here in the UK, and at the time we did have to give them our original Dongle ID's. I presume that this was so that the new upgrade Serial Number was somehow referenced to the Dongle that was issued as part of VW9? Hope that the above makes some sense! Thanks Stuart FAW Architects Northampton, England
  4. Hi there, we have just purchased some upgrades from VW Architect 9 - 10, and also the Industry Series from 9 - 10. Do we need to remove the dongles prior to installing the upgrade, or can we leave them in? Also does the upgrade set up a new Vectorworks 10 folder or simply update the old 9 one? We will obviously do a back-up of old drawings anyway but was just wondering... Any assistance would be greatfully appreciated. Stuart Gray FAW Architects Northampton, England.
  5. Is there a way of printing out a list of all of the VW font types available??
  6. I'm looking to purchase a Laptop running say Windows XP with 512Mb RAM, 2.4Ghz Pentium 4 Processor with 32Mb Graphics card. I will run VWA 9.5 / 10 and RW, and it must be able to do decent 3D. Any advice as to what people are using and what works well?
  7. Many thanks for your reply Katie, maybe I should chase up our Distributor over here in England to see when the upgrades are available
  8. In VW 8.5 it was possible to pick up the cavity wall lines settings from a drawn wall and then "drop" them onto another wall, (ie. one of the same width that was originally drawn without cavity lines). This saved so much time However if I now save a VW8 drawing as a VWA 9 one and then draw a new wall using the Select Wall Type Command I cannot use the Eyedropper tool to pick up the cavity settings from the new wall to then deposit them on a wall drawn previously in VW8. Am I doing something wrong?
  9. I'm not sure if this is exactly the same problem. When I drag a marquee around multiple objects to select them everything is ok. However if I then decide to select some more objects very close to the original ones, ie. press Shift and then drag another marquee box if I go over any of the previously selected objects they get de-selected! This didn't happen in VW 8.5.2. We are running VW Architect on Windows XP Professional, 1.9Ghz PC's, 512MB Ram, 64 Mb NVidia Geforce 3 Ti200.
  10. Does anyone out there have or know where I can get hold of some stonework hatches, both random and coursed in elevation? Many thanks in advance Stuart GrayFAW Architects

  12. We are using Windows XP Professional with an Dell 8200 1900Mhz Athlon Processor, 512MB RAM and a Geforce Ti200 64Mb Graphics Card. We hardly ever crash anymore (as we did with Windows 98SE), and renderings fly by. You can now get 128Mb Geforces and obviously much faster processors, but the key is as much RAM as possible and a good graphics card. Stuart GrayFAW Architects Northampton, England
  13. We have just noted that the decimal rounding does not update when you go into the UNITS menu and say change from Rounding to nearest from 0.0 to 0. We still get dimensions that show say 100.5mm. Are we missing something ? Stuart GrayFAW ArchitectsNorthampton, England
  14. Katie, Thanks for your reply, I have tried the above, however I keep getting an error message saying, " there isn't enough valid data on the selected source layer to build a DTM" All of my 3D Loci have been assigned 'Z' Values and show correctly in an isometric and side views etc.. Not sure what I'm doing wrong...help! Regards Stuart
  15. Is there a way of converting 3D locus points (with a 'Z' Value assigned under the Object Info Palette), into a DTM? If not does anyone have a suitable script? Regards Stuart GrayFAW Architects Northampton, EEngland
  16. I'm using VWA 9.5.1 and have only just noticed that the "draw revision cloud by oval" option as in VW8 is no longer available, is this correct, I loved how easy that was to use!
  17. It may be that this is more to do with XP, we had a similar problem with an old Calcomp Plotter that works fine under Win 98SE but not XP. The best bet is to go to HP's website and see if they have downloaded new Plotter Drivers for XP.
  18. Firstly draw a 2d circle with a solid fill, then a smaller concentric one, also with solid fill. Select both then use the clip surface too. This will then leave you with a hollow 2d circle wich can then be extruded, or my favourite new feature in 9.5, extruded along a path!
  19. I see on the NNA Website that a new texture library has been posted for Renderworks 9.5. Do we need to delete the existing textures libraryand then install this/ Any advice would be gratefully received. Thanks in advance Stuart GrayFAW Architects Northampton, England
  20. Many thanks Matthew, you actually did me a favor however! Up until now every attempt at creating a hatch within the "editor" led me to give up after 10 minutes, but at long last I have perservered and just drew the hatch from scratch! Whilst writing, many thanks to all at NNA for the new and improved VW, and especially the free 3D Powerpack ! Over here in England its something you never see the other CAD companies doing, but shows just how much you appreciate your users. VW was our first stab at CAD and we have never as a company looked back! Stuart Gray (Associate)FAW Architects Northampton, England
  21. Does anyone out there have a herringbone block pavior hatch that they could let me have? Many thanks in advance Stuart GrayFAW Architects Northampton, England
  22. Lisa, To draw a 3D shape, go to the 3D Objects Pallete, in there you can draw many 3D shapes simply by specifying a height and then drawing them in 2D by dragging a square, cirlce, polygon or whatever you wish. You can then edit them simply by selecting them and going into the object palette to change heights etc. Just go to palettes then 3D tools, and you will see all of the shapes. If any problems e-mail me at fawarchitects @ aol.com Regards, Stuart GrayFAW ArchitectsNorthampton, England
  23. Lisa, We as a Practice are fairly new to VW and find the Discussion Forum at; VECTORWORKS-L@PEACH.EASE.LSOFT.COM, very useful as it is users who use VW on a daily basis, and as yet they have always been able to suggest help and fixes.Hope this is of help
  24. Please can you add the following to the wish list: 1. Be able to join two masonry cavity walls so that the cavities join. 2. To the window/door plug in modules allow for the ineer skin or a proprietary cavity wall closer to be inserted. To all of us in England using Vectorworks this would save so much time and produce a much more accurate drawing as most of our work uses cavity masonry walls, not timber frames!! In hope, Regards, Stuart Gray (Associate) FAW Architects - England
  25. We are a practice in Northampton. You should be able to get a copy for the Mac from Gomark Limited in London Tel. (0171) 731 7930, speak to Vince Owen. We currently run it on Windows, and the update is excellent, happy drawing. Regards, Stuart Gray (Associate) FAW Architects ------------------
