How do I configure a Proxy Server for Vectorworks?

If your environment requires you to use a proxy server to connect to the internet, you must create a proxy configuration.  Here is an example proxy file:

    proxytype http

    address 192.168.1.100

    port 3128

    # Uncomment the line below to do dns queries locally, instead of on the proxy

    # dns local

    # username and password for proxies that require it

    # username testuser

    # password testpass

    Save this file to:

    ·       Mac: (User's Folder)/Library/Application Support/Vectorworks/VWProxy.txt

    ·       Windows: C:\Users\ (User's Folder) \AppData\Roaming\Nemetschek\Vectorworks

    Proxy troubleshooting

How can I tell I need a proxy configuration?

If you see the error message “An unexpected response was received from the web server. This could be due to a proxy server intercepting the connection”, the problem is likely incorrect or missing proxy configuration.  This message will appear in the graphical user interface and in UpdaterLog.txt.

How can I tell the proxy file is in the correct place?

If the proxy file is in the correct place, the message “Proxy Settings File Detected...” can be found in the UpdaterLog.txt.
