On some user hardware, Vectorworks may encounter a solid black screen instead of the normal drawing area either in a new blank document, a file from an older version of Vectorworks or both:
So far this appears to be related to an outdated driver, mainly with (but not limited to) Intel integrated cards:
- Intel HD series
- Intel 4 series
- Intel 945 series
- Intel 965 series
In most cases, the issue can be resolved by closing Vectorworks, installing the latest driver from Intel:

Then restarting the machine entirely and launch Vectorworks again. If this fails, please contact tech@vectorworks.net for assistance.
