  • Plant Count Equations

    PVA - Admin

    The following are the equations Vectorworks uses in order to calculate the plant count on any given Plant List in Vectorworks. We use 4 formulas for calculating number of plants. Which formula we use is dependant on the selected rate unit. The formulas are:

    For “Feet on center”:

    count = ( area * percentage ) / ( rate * rate ) / 92903.04;

    92903.04 comes from (1 sq ft = 92903.04 sq mm)

    For “Meters on center”

    count = ( area * percentage ) / (rate * rate ) / 1000000;

    1000000 comes from (1 sq m == 1000000 sq mm)

    For “Plants/sq ft”:

    count = rate * area * percentage / 92903.04;

    92903.04 comes from (1 sq ft = 92903.04 sq mm)

    For “Plants/sq m":

    count = rate * area * percentage / 1000000;

    1000000 comes from (1 sq m == 1000000 sq mm)
