  • Multiple Graphics Cards - (Windows Only)

    PVA - Admin

If you are using a Windows machine with more than one graphics card, Vectorworks will only utilize the graphics card that is set as the primary display device.

This means that if you have two graphics cards, for instance; one weak integrated card set as the primary display and one powerful dedicated graphics card set as the secondary display, Vectorworks will only be able to use the weaker one. This can cause Vectorworks to run very slowly.

To correct this, first make sure that your primary display (your main computer monitor) is plugged directly into the more powerful graphics card. On desktop computers with integrated cards, the rear of the computer will often have 2 or more ports to plug monitors into. The image below details which is more likely to be the dedicated video card, with the dedicated card's port circled in red and the integrated card's port circled in blue:

Once your main display is plugged into the correct card, you should then right click on a blank area of your desktop, then choose "Screen Resolution", and you will see a dialogue similar to the one below. Here you should select the monotor connected to your main display, and make sure that that display is set to be the main display:

If not, select it, then check the "Make this my main display" box and then click Apply, then OK.
