We know many of our users are eager to and are updating to Mac OS X Yosemite (10.10), especially since the update is offered for free. However, as it is a major OS update, we ask that you please proceed with caution. Here is a summary of Yosemite compatibility for recent versions of Vectorworks:

Vectorworks 2015: We are aware of two issues that have been reported to Apple.

    1. Color picker: When using the color picker utility on OS X 10.10, there is no graphical feedback on what color you are selecting until you select it, making it difficult to select an exact pixel and acquire its color. *UPDATE: This issue was corrected by Apple in OS X 10.10.5*

    2. PDF Export: Exporting to PDF, Printing to PDF and Publishing to PDF may lose proper hatch and text location, causing hatches to overlap or text or be bunched up in one small area. We are expecting to get more information from Apple about these issues soon. Printers and Plotters that do not support OS X 10.10 explicitly may have trouble printing from Vectorworks as well as from PDFs exported from Vectorworks, in addition to not supporting custom page sizes, which are used by nearly all Mac users at some point. Please make sure your printer drivers expressly support OS X 10.10 before upgrading.

UPDATE: For issue #2, please see THIS ARTICLE.

For licenses using a security device (dongle): Upgrading from prior versions to Mac OS 10.10 with a dongle, the driver may become corrupted. Re-installing the latest dongle drivers of the HASP/LDK from SafeNet resolves the issue.

Vectorworks 2014 and 2013: Vectorworks 2014 and Vectorworks 2013 using the latest service pack are compatible with Mac OS X Yosemite (10.10).

Vectorworks 2012 and earlier: If you are using Vectorworks 2012 or earlier, we do not recommend that you update to OS X Yosemite, as these versions will not run properly or at all with the new OS.

NOTE: We always recommend performing a clean installation of any new Mac OS X, rather than a migration from an older version into the newer one. If you encounter issues after a migration process, you should uninstall and reinstall Vectorworks. Steps for doing so can be found HERE
