Vectorworks & Autoturn: Simulating Vehicle Turning Paths

Description:
If you are designing for event vehicular circulation, commercial parking lots, or residential driveways, being able to understand and accurately simulate vehicle turn maneuvering is essential. With the full integration of Transoft Solutions AutoTURN Online in all Vectorworks software, this design capability helps to simplify this complex task. Using a real-world project file, Andres Velez, P.Eng., Senior Civil Engineer and Project Manager at Transoft Solutions, Inc. and Eric Gilbey, PLA, Product Marketing Manager at Vectorworks, Inc. will walk you through different simulation scenarios that highlight the intricacies of vehicular use and parking areas, and the details surrounding them.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn how Vectorworks provides site planning tools which aid in efficiently laying out parking areas and drive aisles to plan for parking and vehicle maneuverability.
  • Explore a parking lot that is integrated with surrounding landscaping to showcase passenger vehicle access and parking.
  • See how to fully access the AutoTURN Online tool directly in Vectorworks software, and how to choose and utilize different vehicles.
  • Master how to generate simulations and assess the turning space for different vehicles such as fire trucks, transit buses, semi-trailers, and more.
