Boston User GroupTopic: :It may seem obvious that communication and collaboration among architects, owners, consultants, and contractors are key to a successful design process, but effectively putting it into practice can be challenging. Join us for an in-depth examination of two case study projects in which information-rich BIM workflows were facilitated through open-source, IFC file format exchanges among modeling, rendering, model-checking, and design review software. You’ll learn best practices for organizing design processes among all the teams involved in a building’s life cycle. : Brian Hores and Joe Marshall of Flansburgh Architects will share their recent AIA’17 Conference presentation.
Attendees will be able to:
•Identify key steps in an efficient, streamlined IFC workflow.
•Chart your own BIM and IFC design processes, scaling the example workflows to meet the size and specificity needs of your own firm.
•Describe to coworkers, consultants, stakeholders, and contractors the importance of IFC for successful BIM collaboration during design, construction, and facility operation.
 :
•List next steps for better incorporation best practices with BIM and IFC into current and ongoing projects, promoting data-driven design throughout the industry.
