COURSE DESCRIPTION
Virtual training offers the Vectorworks Core Concepts course, with the additional convenience of working from your own computer and the flexibility to determine your own schedule! Virtual training is a five-day course with three hours of class time daily, which frees up the rest of your day. It offers the same benefits of seeing and communicating with your trainer while saving you time and travel costs.

Core Concepts is the best hands-on training option to learn how to utilize tools, menu commands, and drawing organization found in Vectorworks software. Core Concepts starts from the ground up, teaching you all of the necessary basics needed to become a Vectorworks pro. Make use of 2D and 3D modeling techniques from the start, and learn the entry points and correct workflows to help master the Vectorworks platform.

PREREQUISITES
Those considering virtual Core Concepts training must understand basic drafting concepts, such as plan and elevation projections, scale and actual size, and drawing units. Participants must also be comfortable with operating either a Macintosh or Windows computer system and understand basic mouse operations such as single click, double click, click and drag, scroll wheel, right click, and two click operations. Other prerequisites also include basic keyboarding knowledge, including use of the Spacebar, Tab, Control, Alt, Shift, Delete, Command (Mac), and Option (Mac) keys.

 MEET THE TRAINER
Donald Ward is a Vectorworks expert and lead trainer at Nemetschek Vectorwks, Inc. He has been with Nemetschek Vectorworks for nine years, initially as a senior technical support specialist working directly with Vectorworks customers. Since 2007, he has been conducting Vectorworks classroom and online training courses at all levels. He has also presented at numerous industry events including LDI and ASLA annual conventions. In addition, Don supports the company’s U.S. sales and marketing initiatives by working with the user group community and by providing customized, on-site team training for Vectorworks clients.

Virtual training is a two-day course, from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. EST each day. It offers the same benefits of seeing and communicating with your trainer, while saving you time and travel costs.

In order to take advantage of the Vectorworks Virtual Classroom Training, you must first meet ALL of the prerequisites. This is necessary to make sure that you and others in the class have the best training environment and experience possible. Course Information
These two-day classes focus on program fundamentals within the context of the Vectorworks Landmark program’s specialized tools and technology. It is intended for those already familiar with the basic operation of Vectorworks software and who work in landscape architecture, design, contracting, or other related design disciplines. The objective of the seminar is to give the participant a basic knowledge of the most important aspects of 2D and 3D drawing, including essential drawing techniques, principles of file organization for common drawing types, and creation of planting plans with automated plant lists.

About the Trainer
Eric Gilbey, PLA, Landscape Industry Specialist at Nemetschek Vectorworks, Inc.
Eric utilizes his professional experience, including membership in the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), the Association of Professional Landscape Designers (APLD), and the Professional Landcare Network (PLANET), as well as CAD skills to assist in the development, marketing, and sales of the Vectorworks Landmark software. Eric’s experience as a registered landscape architect and user of various CAD programs allows him to help landscape architects and designers develop best practices such as sustainable design.
Eric received an AAS degree in Landscape Contracting and Construction and a B.S. degree in Landscape Architecture from The Ohio State University. He currently serves as the trustee for the ASLA Maryland Chapter’s executive committee, while serving on ASLA’s Professional Practice Committee, Firm Technology Subcommittee, and LARE Prep Committee.
Eric also writes and speaks on behalf of several green industry associations on digital technology in site design.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Vectorworks Spotlight Virtual Training class explores the workflow of creating a small corporate event. Starting with a blank file, the course covers best practices for organizing a document and creating the venue. It also includes instruction on how to incorporate seating layouts, video screens, speakers, light positions, lighting devices, and focus points, create presentation views, and extract data from objects into worksheets. If you choose to follow along on your own computer, progression files will be provided, so you can track the instructor’s keystrokes throughout the seminar.

OVERALL LEARNING GOALS
Create a small corporate event while learning about Layer and Class organization, importing DWG files, referencing data from other Vectorworks documents, drawing faster and more accurately, and utilizing the built-in, industry-specific tools and commands.
 
PREREQUISITES
Attendees must have completed the Core Concepts Training Class or have an intermediate to advanced knowledge of 3D workflows. They should also understand the listed tools, palettes, and workspace environment in Vectorworks software. This includes drawing organization structures such as layers, classes, sheet layers, and viewports, along with understanding the purpose of the following Vectorworks software palettes: Object Info palette, Basic palette, Attributes palette, Resource Browser, View bar, and the use of the heads-up display (i.e., Floating Data Display bar).
